Chicken wings and shrimp fried rice near me

Had the fried chicken fried rice, very disappointing as the rice had zero taste sans the wok hey smell. The fried chicken texture was amazing, but it was tasteless too. Unlikely to order again.

Have to waiting for 20mins despite making early pick-up order. Otherwise the food is ok

Delivey was an hour late. The pork cutlet tastes like it was fried in heavily reused cooking oil. The pork belly from the kong bak pau tastes lousy. The pau was old and crumbly. No value for money. πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

The green tea and mineral water was not delivered

Found myself back into the Yishun area yet again and since I had to settle for dinner in the area, I thought I would check out some of the coffeeshop stalls that I have came across on social media. Not sure how long FireRice had existed here at TST Coffeeshop at Blk 732 Yishun Avenue 5, but I reckon it should be a fairly recent addition given how the signboard looks and it’s emphasis on Din Tai Fung-esque fried rice that seems to be jumping on the bandwagon on the ongoing trend that has somewhat died down a little currently. The stall serves up two types of fried rice β€” namely the Egg Fried Rice and Sambal Fried Rice, whilst pairing them up with different meat options with choices that includes pork chop, smoked duck, brown Shimeiji, and shrimp. For those looking to share a side, FireRice also offers an ala-carte order of the pork chops, as well as chicken wings and nuggets as well.

The item to go for is obvious to us β€” the Pepper Pork Chop Egg Fried Rice features their egg fried rice and the pepper pork chop; the latter being one of the two pork chop options that are available here (the other being the Spicy Pork Chop). Would say that FireRice does a pretty good rendition of the Din Tai Fung-esque fried rice β€” the rice comes laced with a good proportion egg yolk and egg white, and comes sprinkled with spring onions for a good colour. Whilst the dining partner for the day felt that the rice was a wee bit too wet in comparison to some of the other similar variants of the dish from other stalls, I personally find that the grains were sufficiently moist and every grain was distinguishable from one another β€” they also seemed to have also used short-grain rice here; a plus point over those that have opted to go with regular grains instead. To be fair, the Pepper Pork Chop was actually pretty good in its own right β€” more of their own rendition which should not be compared to the one from Din Tai Fung. While it does lack the crispness of the likes of the same from King of Fried Rice, Feng Food and even Din Tai Fung, there isn’t much to dispute about how juicy and tender it is being lean with a good bite; I liked how the pepper isn’t particularly intrusive here β€” more of a light whiff that runs at the back of the tongue without exploding into a fiery spiciness. Kudos to them for getting the chili right here β€” the θ€εΉ²ε¦ˆ-esque chili does provide a good kick of spiciness when had in moderate amounts, and provides a crisp texture when had together with the rice that makes the entire plate even more interesting.

Having tried a couple of stalls that serves up Din Tai Fung-esque fried rice, FireRice is one of those few stalls that seemingly got their rendition of the dish right β€” egg fried rice that comes with a whiff of egginess amidst the sufficiently moist and pearly grains, there isn’t much that is not to be loved with their Din Tai Fung-style fried rice here. While Yishun itself is home to quite a number of such establishments (think Feng Food at Northpoint City, King of Fried Rice at Wisteria Mall and Mister Rice within Chong Pang), FireRice does prove itself to be quite a worthy contender amidst the competition β€” an alternative to the already available options without the queue as of the time of writing this post; a spot that residents around the area will be happy to have!
