Red Osier Dogwood

Red Osier Dogwood leaves are medium to dark green. They range from 2 to 5 inches and are typically oblong to oval in shape. It is beautiful to various birds (such as wild turkeys, woodpeckers, and catbirds) and butterflies. Many birds feed on the tree's berries and use the plant for shelter.

The plants tend to grow right up to the ground, so they don't always need facer plants in front and are suited for planting under power lines. Growing fast, it can live up to 20 years under ideal conditions.

Red Osier Dogwood grows best in full sun to partial shade

It is highly adaptable, tolerating both dry conditions and standing water. It can handle vast amounts of pollution and will thrive in urban environments.

Despite their versatile features, they require some sunlight and are a low-maintenance shrub. Once or twice in the year to keep them in the best shape, make them look attractive, and keep them in the best condition.

It not only adds elegance and enchanting view to your landscape, but their stems are turned for weaving baskets. Some people also use these shrubs to cure colds, slow bleeding and substitute for tobacco.

I received the package containing 4 bare root plants as scheduled but only two of the plants were labeled and I am not well enough experienced to tell the plants in their bare root state apart. One plant was labeled Dogwood, the other labeled Elderberry the two remaining were unidentified.
