Internal Medicine ResidencyAs the name of our practice implies, our physicians have committed their careers to medical education in the Miami and Miami Beach area. All have board certifications in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and teach extensively in both fields. Dr. Claudio Tuda and Dr. Cynthia Rivera are the Program Director and Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and are very involved in teaching rounds and conferences with interns, residents and medical students. Dr. Kenneth Ratzan is the former Chief of Medicine and has been a teaching attending at Mount Sinai Medical Center for over 40 years. Mount Sinai Internal Medicine Residency Program Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai South Nassau. We have a new program whose inaugural resident class started on July 1, 2019. The Department of Medicine is committed to providing the best possible education for our residents while delivering the highest quality of care for our patients. We are committed to resident wellness, and to the degree possible we will strive to meet the personal as well as the educational needs of our residents. Our facility is a large, modern, suburban, “full service” hospital with a wide array of subspecialists and excellent tertiary services. The collegial atmosphere of our hospital provides an environment of healing for our patients and an optimal inpatient learning experience for our residents. Our Internal Medicine Continuity Clinics are located in nearby Freeport and Long Beach. Additional outpatient education is provided through a system of off-site, well-equipped physician practices. Our patients are diverse in all ways, including age, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Our sponsor, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has brought new and exciting services to Mount Sinai South Nassau, and offers many academic and research opportunities for motivated residents. Our location in Nassau County combines suburban living (great places to raise a family!) with easy access to the wonders of New York City and the tranquil beaches of Long Island. Graduates of our program will be prepared to embark on careers in all aspects of Internal Medicine, including primary care, hospital medicine, and subspecialties. They will be welcomed at institutions across the country, although we expect that many of our graduates will choose to join our staff and remain part of the Mount Sinai South Nassau family for the long term. Please read further to see if this program is right for you.
