Dental Students/Dentist please help me out!
I NEED HELP!!! I have nearly approached all the dental offices near my home and not even one of them is offering any shadowing. I am a Dentist from Pakistan. I moved to the States few months back and I have been trying to stay in touch with my field till I appear for my INBDE. I don't even get to show them my CV. They hear shadowing and the next second they say no we don't offer that. Can someone please help me out in finding a dental office in or near San Jose that offers shadowing even for... Is it worth it to get a DDS after residency?
Hi, I’m an international dentist graduated from top 5 dental school in the world in Europe. I am finishing up my residency now in the USA. Should I do a DDS? It’s being offered at my school for $150k for 2.5 years. I don’t NEED to do the DDS to find a job in one of the states that will take foreign grads but it seems nice to have. Thank you. Getting an Orthodontics Residency
Hi all, I am a student at UPenn Dental school. I have about a 3.5 GPA. If I am unable to improve it, could I still get into an ortho program? What could I do to help my chances? I was thinking maybe to do a GPR and then apply....would this get my low GPA overlooked? I have one publication, but I am not even among the top 2-3 authors. I also hold leadership position in ASDA. Any advice would help. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

to GPR or not to GPR (or AEGD)
So I know this topic has been discussed many-a-time, but currently am in peak decision making period and am having a tough time knowing what I want to do and would love some advice from experienced docs and new grads alike. I'm currently top quartile of my class in D3, but don't really find any of the specialities interesting and am interested on doing general dentistry. I really enjoy the surgical aspect of general dentistry (exts, implants, alveolo), as well as cosmetic dentistry, but have... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will Ortho become like Pharmacy?
I want a specific thread for the state of Orthodontics. When I was growing up this was the golden specialty. Now, there are factories sorry I mean programs pumping out 45 residents a year. What is going to happen to Orthodontics? Will new grads be doomed straight to corporate with super saturated job markets similar to pharmacy? Let’s discuss (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is Georgia School of Orthodontics worth it for all my savings?
Hi guys, I have been a dentist for about 10 years. I paid off all of my student loans and have been working as a GP. I have about 400k saved across all of my accounts (more like 500k since the markets are down now). I’m not a super skilled GP, and work as an associate. I have taken tons of ortho CE and do many cases, it’s really the only part of dentistry I like. GSO is just expensive and will eat away all of my savings. When I get out of residency at 40 I’ll essentially be right where I was... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Real estate professional status against earned income (W2, 1099, etc.)?
Hello all, I was hoping to get input from physicians, dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, etc who are also real estate professionals in order to offset earned income (W2, 1099, etc.) Looks like a very effective but tricky way to go about it. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Questions for pediatric residents at Yale-New Haven pediatric program
I've been really interested in pediatric dentistry for a little while now, namely, working on patients with disabilities. Can anyone shed some light on the program and some of the qualities they are looking for in an applicant? Any insight would be appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can Dentist Have Medical Marijuana Card
Hello all. I'm a D1 student who currently has a MM card and I go to school where weed is legal. However, I was wondering if having a MM card affects my ability to get licensed in the future. Been searching the internet for a few days and don't really see anything. Only worry would be getting my DEA number and I'm not sure if having a card would affect that. My card will expire before graduation. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is EMT = Clinical Experience
@Goro , My kid is taking 2 year gap year and doing TFA. While doing TFA, is also doing EMT. 2 questions to you is 1. Will EMT be considered clinical experience? 2. My kid already has 100 hours of shadowing experience with a cardiologist, Dentist, Gynecologist, they are doctors who are family friends. Is that ok? or should it be with a known program at a hospital? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NYU Langone Pediatric Dentistry- insights?
Any current or past residents at any NYU Langone sites (especially CA or MA sites) can chime in on their program? I feel like there is generally little information about these programs on here leaving many of us wondering about them! Some questions I have but feel free to add more: 1. How many patients do you see daily? 2. What is your OR/sedation experience like? 3. What are the didactics like (read that NYU Langone does some sort of virtual didactics with all residents?) 4. How many FT... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
