Servsafe california food handler course and assessment answers

A CA Food Handler Card is required by law.

Employees who handle food must have a California Food Handler card on file with their employer within 30 days of hire. To obtain a card, you must complete the training and pass the exam with a 75 percent or higher. This training and test meets the requirements of California’s food safety law SB 602. You can complete the training online or in a classroom-style setting.


Online Training

The ServSafe® California Food Handler program includes an interactive course and a 40-question exam. It’s $15 and approximately 90 minutes. Offered in English or Spanish. Food handlers will have to complete a registration process in English to access the course.

For San Diego residents, the program is $18.

ServSafe Food Handler® Online Course and Assessment is a comprehensive solution that delivers consistent food safety training to employees. This ensures the same food safety principles are delivered each and every time.

  • Sections can be completed in approximately 10 minutes.
  • Color photographs from the learner’s point of view help reinforce food safety concepts.
  • Enhanced assessment can be taken at the completion of training to measure if employees have the minimum competency in food safety knowledge.

How do I pass the ServSafe exam?

ServSafe Manager A passing score is 75% or better, but 10 questions are merely for research purposes and will not be scored (you won't know which ones they are). Therefore, to pass you will need to correctly answer 60 out of the 80 scored questions. The test must be given in person by a certified ServSafe Proctor.

How many questions are on the California food Handlers test?

The online version takes an average of 75 minutes to complete, which includes the training and exam. Both exams have 50, multiple choice questions.

How many questions can you miss on the ServSafe test?
