We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.

Transition Instructions:

Please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed our puppy's itchy skin! Our rescue (mix of everything) came to us with itchy skin. She kept us up scratching and stopped mid-play to scratch. We switched to this and added salmon oil to her food and her itching is 95% improved. We rechallenged her with her old food (Purina One chicken and rice, which our previous dog did well on after failing many other foods) and the itching returned. She is 8 months old now and I hope to transition her to the adult version of this, but seeing reviews about a new formula, I am concerned. I was surprised at what a dramatic difference this food made for our dog - we are allo sleeping better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Nutritionist from Two new bags confirm formula/recipe change I bought a bag of this recently to replace the same sensitive skin stomach for puppies (salmon) kibble I've been using. The smell is different, smells like stale kibble and less salmon-y. The kibble size is larger which is great, but the change in smell and flavor makes it unappetizing for my puppy. She won't eat it anymore and I have to keep tossing her stale kibble. I bought a new bag just to see if it was the same and it was! Both new bags lack the appetizing salmon smell and my pup won't eat it. Time to hunt for a new food. Its a shame, it was really working for her stools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IzzyN from Works Great! I have a 52lb, approximately 8 month old, American Bully. We have had him for 3 months. Originally we had him on Science Diet (that's what we got from the shelter we adopted him from). I wanted to switch him over to a better diet, and transitioned him to Natural Balance, salmon. He eventually stopped eating this food and started having bad BMs and threw up. I did some research and found this food. We transitioned him to it and he has been on it for about 1.5 months. He has done really well on this diet - his coat is softer, he has good BMs and loves meal time. We'll keep him on this for the rest of his puppyhood and hope to transition him to the adult formula when he's old enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rodster from Just wanted to help my best friend. Ozzy is a 7 month old Boxer and Rottweiler. I guess you’d say he’s my newer best friend. He had some issues throwing up his food. He also had never really shown any enthusiasm when I fed him. I tried regulating how much he got at feeding time as well as different brands. As I said before he wouldn’t get excited and almost every time he’d throw up. I was really getting worried. I saw the Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach salmon. Brought it home. Ozzy started sniffing the bag right away. Gave him a cup and he ate it up. Didn’t leave a single kibble. He then pushed his nose against the bag and looked up. He wanted more. Since the Pro Plan he hasn’t been throwing up. He loves it. When I here the bag crackling I know he’s hungry. I’m very very happy and so is Ozzy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by emilym12 from Formula change - kibble has weird things on it? My puppy has been eating this food for a few months, and she's doing excellent on it. But there was clearly an unannounced formula change, and I have no idea whether to be concerned or not - just like the reviewer below there's some weird bits on her food. I feel terrible because I had fed it to my puppy for a few days without noticing. Can someone help?

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lauren S from Formula change and now my puppy won't eat it! She loved it until this last bag! The kibble is noticably larger than previous batches and doesn't smell the same. My pup used to love it but will hardly touch this stuff! This batch has the expiration date Sep 2022, we had to check to make sure we didn't get an expired batch. Giving 2 stars because she used to love it, but give this batch 0 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kcanon84 from Best food for puppies allergic to chicken products Our new puppy Lab/pit mix at the shelter. I started her on purina one large breed puppy but I think either chicken or something in it breaking her skin and upsetting her stomach so we are still gradually switching her over to the pro plan salmon for puppies. So far her skin is slowly showing improvement it has been 6 days so far so hopefully when using the food exclusively make her feel better. I appreciate the smaller bags see if it will work first before committing to buying such a big bag. Not many companies have different flavors in case one is allergic to one kind of meat or poultry. Hate having to waste but I might send the purina one and donate it to the shelter. I will probably do another review in a couple months see if this is her forever food.
