  • Inflation Reduction Act

    • Clean Vehicle Credit
      - Up to $7,500 Tax Credit for new electric vehicles
      - Up to $4,000 Tax Credit for used electric vehicles
      - Effective August 17, 2022 final assembly of new cars must be in North America
      - Further changes begin with January 1, 2023 purchases (2023 taxes).

      - Non-business Energy Property Credit for energy efficient property and the Residential Energy Efficient Property Credit for solar equipment increased.

      - Extension of subsidies for Marketplace insurance.

  • Child Tax Credit (CTC)

    • The amount that families claiming the CTC receive increased from $2,000 to $3,600 for each child under 6 and $3,000 for each child
      age 6-17.
    • The credit is now fully refundable – that means that you are eligible for the credit even if you don’t
      owe taxes.
    • Monthly advance payments for this credit started sending in July 2021. These payments are in advance of this year’s
      tax filing.
    • If you’re receiving these monthly payments, your tax refund next year may be smaller. Learn more

    Tax Credit

    • This credit was expanded for workers without kids and nearly tripled the maximum
      credit amount.
    • Eligibility was also extended for a wider range of filers, now allowing taxpayers to qualify who are over 65 or between the ages of 19-25.

    • The amount families can receive on their 2021 tax return
      has increased.

    • Unemployment payments increased by $300 per week through September 6, 2021, but have since dropped back to normal levels.

    • Extended refundable tax credits for sick leave and family leave through tax year 2021 for both eligible self-employed and small business owners.

  • College Students

    • The American Rescue plan provided relief to students with government and federal student loans by allowing students with forgiven loan debt to exclude the discharged debt from their taxable

    • The pause on Federal student loan repayment, interest, and collections was also extended until December 31, 2022.

Where do you enter the stimulus check on your tax return?

To claim your stimulus payment, look for Line 30 on your 1040 tax form.

How do you get my stimulus check if I didn't get it?

You can also call the IRS' automated phone transcript service at 800-908-9946 or mail in Form 4506-T to have your transcript be sent by mail. Create an account on IRS.gov/account. You can view your stimulus check amounts under the Tax Records tab.

Where can I find my letter 6475?

A: If you did not receive your Letter 6475, you can check Your IRS Online Account to securely access your individual IRS account information. The amount of your third Economic Impact Payment is shown on the Tax Records tab/page under the section “Economic Impact Payment Information”.

Do I enter my stimulus check on my tax return?

Claim your first, second, or third stimulus check! You can claim the stimulus payments as a tax credit and get the money as part of your tax refund. The stimulus checks are a federal tax credit, known as the Recovery Rebate Credit. In order to get the Recovery Rebate Credit, you will need to file a tax return.
