Do you get refund if cancel amazon prime

Amazon Prime can prove a valuable service to many, with perks including free delivery, Amazon Video, Music, and Amazon Prime Day. However, as the cost of everything from energy to food seems to increase exponentially, many subscription service consumers may be looking to tighten their belts.

Unfortunately, the price of an Amazon Prime membership is also set to increase for both new customers and renewals from September 15. From that date, the service cost will go up from £7.99 a month to £8.99.

Alternatively, prospective members can choose to pay annually, with the cost of a year's subscription rising from £75 to £95. This is due to what Amazon describes as "increased inflation and operating costs."

Prime Video as a stand-alone subscription (currently priced at £5.99) will not be increasing and it is still possible to order from Amazon.co.uk without Prime Membership.

Whether you have decided the service isn't for you or you are just trying to budget more effectively, here are the steps to cancel your Amazon Prime membership.

How to cancel Amazon Prime

If you are looking to cancel your Amazon Prime membership, you can follow these easy steps:

  1. Click on "Your Account"
  2. Go to "Your Prime Membership"
  3. Select "Manage"
  4. Click on "Update, Cancel and More."

You will then be given the option to end your Amazon Prime Membership. If you are not yet a paid subscriber, you can also use these steps to cancel your free trial.

Is it possible to get a refund on your Amazon Prime membership?

Suppose you haven't ordered from Amazon since you began your Prime membership (or used any Amazon Prime membership benefits, like Prime video). In this case, you may be able to claim a full refund. If you have only used the free delivery perk, you may also be entitled to a partial refund.

Amazon.co.uk states, "Paid members who haven't placed an order using the benefits of Amazon Prime are eligible for a full refund. Paying members who have only used Amazon Prime delivery benefits may be eligible for a partial refund."

If you are entitled to a refund, it should be paid back to you automatically after you cancel. However, you can always contact Amazon UK customer services.

However, if you've been taking advantage of other perks from your Prime account, the website warns: "If the other benefits (Prime Video, Prime Music, or Prime Gaming) have been used, members aren't eligible for a refund."

Amazon Prime normally costs $139 per year unless you can score a discounted Prime membership. If you’re ready to give up free two-day shipping, the Amazon Prime Video library, Prime Day, and other perks, here’s how you can quit Prime.

Here’s the good news: You might be able to score a refund if you paid for Prime but haven’t used your benefits in this period. So, if Amazon just automatically renewed your Prime subscription and charged you, you may be able to get your money back. Even if you can’t get a refund, you can cancel Prime and you’ll keep your benefits until the end of your paid membership period. Amazon won’t automatically charge you to renew.

To get started, head to Amazon’s website. Sign in with your Amazon account if you’re not already signed in. Mouse over “Account & Lists” near the top right corner of the page and click “Prime Membership.”

Finally, you’ll be prompted to confirm the cancellation of your membership. Amazon also allows you to “Pause” membership, which just makes it easier to resubscribe later on. Your membership won’t actually end until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

You may be offered a refund here. Amazon notes that you will get a full refund of your current membership period if you haven’t used the benefits yet. Even if you’ve used Prime a little bit, you may be able to get a partial refund. Unfortunately, the best way to do this is to call Amazon at (888) 280-4331.

There you go. Your Amazon Prime membership will not renew after your current pay period is over.
