2012 jeep wrangler 3.6 camshaft position sensor location

Anyone know where the crankshaft sensor is located in a 2012 jk? I see a few things that might be it underneath the engine. I got a check engine light saying sensor.

It should be located to the right of the main crank pulley.

There are two sensors that look just like the picture. Are you talking about the one just behind the flywheel on the right side? Because there is another sensor identical to the crank sensor that is on the right but more towards the rear.

The "crankshaft" sensor is mounted on the passenger side of the engine back near the bell housing.

Ah so it's on the rear of the engine as compared to most engines it's in the front near the pully?

I'm getting conflicting information on this when trying to get your question answered. I know a few techs and ran this by them. It seems that they are confusing the camshaft and crankshaft sensor.

What I was last told, is that you can contact your dealer with your VIN and they can lookup the part and it's exact location.

I'm attempting to assist you. Here is where the "crankshaft position sensor" is located. There's also a "camshaft position sensor". Now we both know where each one is located. It seems like the two terms are used interchangeably by us and techs at times as stated by dave. Sensors, Engine 4 is crank, 12 is cam. The sensor in the front is "camshaft".

I understand what you're saying , but I don't know what to tell you. The #4 location is the "Crankshaft Sensor" as indicated in the parts schematic and listed at $13.99. There is one Crankshaft Sensor. The Camshaft Sensor(S) is at the #12 location in the diagram at $39.88 each. There are two Camshaft Sensors listed as required for replacement. The diagram only indicates the #12 location. At this point I'm unable to be more specific as to location other than what's listed in the schematic. The #4 location for the Crankshaft Sensor should be self explanatory since there's only one. If you need further assistance maybe the dealer can better help you. Good luck.

Doing a bit more research, I'm led to believe that the crankshaft position sensor is at the rear of the engine. It should be the sensor near the bell housing and flywheel.
