Released on 19th March 2013, at the starting price of Rs. 5000, the first 20 copies of the book were auctioned on Collectabillia.com. This book has the history of Yuvraj Singh’s life. The ups and downs he faced in his career and how he comes out stronger from his toughest days. The Test of My Life: From Cricketer to Cancer and Back is one book with two stories. Firstly, how Yuvraj Singh had become the role model for the people. Secondly, his fight against cancer all alone, in Indianapolis, USA. The first story narrated is about how Yuvraj became a cricketer. His growth as a player and how he matured as a cricketer, on the other hand, the second part of the story describes how his life changes during his cancer fight and he matures as a person. His journey from Ranji Trophy Captain to dream debut against Australia in 2011, his successful as well as unsuccessful stints in test and ODI career. His toughest period was during World Cup in 2011, at that time Yuvraj was suffering from cancer and did not feel fit to play the match. His teammates and friends Zaheer Khan and Sachin Tendulkar somehow convinced him to play the game. “You will matter when it matters the most”, were Sachin's words of inspiration for him and the rest is history. Yuvraj fans, family and friends have prayed for their ‘Yuvi’ when he underwent treatment. An ideal book for his fans and for people who want to draw inspiration from his life. About the author: Yuvraj Singh the author of “The Test of My Life: From Cricket to Cancer and Back” was known as the bad boy of Indian Cricket but at the same time was the most loved cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar. Yuvraj has played well and many a times he had proven his position as a top player. He hit six sixes in six balls in World 20-20 match against Stuart Broad (England’s fastest bowler). 5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites Great book !Very inspiring and motivating story of a warrior Reviews with imagesTop reviews from IndiaThere was a problem filtering reviews right now. This book is definitely inspiring but articulation is not very great Reviewed in India on 4 October 2020 Verified Purchase This book is very well-written. And Yuvi, you are an inspiration for all of us. I read this book when I was feeling low, and believe me, listening to a person like this can do a lot to your physical mental recovery. I like to read more real stories, there is always a positive thought cloud all around us, just need to look around. Yuvraj has fought the adverse situation, and finally, he is able to see brighter days, life lesson learned again. I especially loved his mother's role and support during his illness, she is such a darling. Reviewed in India on 16 March 2016 Verified Purchase Everything about this book is good in that Yuvraj Singh doesn't like to mince words about his personal battles and a lot of things are revealed to the author. At first, he was tentative about revealing the news to the media. Later, after someone broke the news about his very personal illness, he began to be comfortable with it. He has depicted scathing pain during chemotherapy and how he began to be emotional about his life or things after surviving the disease. The whole story in this book is about grit, determination and a steely resolve. He could manage to break free from the condition owing solely to his athletic abilities. Without these his heart could have burst as the diagnosis was done very late. This tale of a hard fought athlete encourages everyone to be physically fit. Otherwise, life could become very treacherous if afflicted with such a monstrous illness. A support factor like his mother is also very essential as she never left his side. Life is about dogged perseverance and brutal aggression. Live on, Yuvraj!! Reviewed in India on 31 July 2021 Verified Purchase this is the story about yuvraj singh and in this book it is shown cancer.Very good book.you can buy this book.this book is not kindle unlimited Reviewed in India on 13 July 2021 Verified Purchase Quick read. Book is not bad. I would have really liked if it had more lessons and learnings from life. There is too much unnecessary details on cricket. Reviewed in India on 30 October 2019 Verified Purchase I grew up watching Yuvi playing for India. He has been not only my hero and inspiration but also for all the Indians who watch cricket. He fought and won India matches in every crunch n difficult situations. He has been a warrior for me. I am grateful to God for saving his life. By this book,I get to know his pains, anxiety, achievements and insecurities and how efficiently he dealt with them. Reviewed in India on 6 September 2021 Verified Purchase 5.0 out of 5 stars bounce back Nice book to get into Images in this review Reviewed in India on 7 March 2016 Verified Purchase On the eve of my writing, I wanna assure you that I, although a fan of Yuvi, am not biasing here to review his charming autobiography. The pages are a little bit yellowish but binding as well as printing and editing are not just OK, actually great. With coauthors Yuvi has depicted beautifully the days of his tiring effort in teenage to crack a chance in Punjab Ranji Team and then in Indian Senior Cricket Team. He has also shared some 'under-the - carpet' stories of the Indian dressing room in WC 2011. With the pen the Punjab born stalwart has portrayed the crucial time of his life, i.e. when India was winning matches to seal the coveted WC and Yuvraj was mesmerising everyone by his stunning performance, simultaneously he had to suffering from CANCER. It has written neither serieswise nor it contains just stats, so, no matter, whether you are a fan of Yuvi or not, you can buy this book to be motivated yourself. Top reviews from other countries5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous and inspirational Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 September 2014 Verified Purchase Fabulous, inspirational... Gotta love Yuvraj ❤️ 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing read Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 October 2016 Verified Purchase 5.0 out of 5 stars Yuvraj Singh is my all time favorite player and I wanted to know what he felt ... Reviewed in Canada on 1 June 2016 Verified Purchase very inspirational . Yuvraj Singh is my all time favorite player and I wanted to know what he felt and he dealt in the toughest phase of his life. It was very touching and inspirational book and it is going to help me make more motivated in my life. I am very confident that it is going to inspire many people in their lives and help them to work towards their goal. Yuvi bhaji is a fighter and we all love him from core of our heart. Love you always bhaji.. 4.0 out of 5 stars A Winning Brave-Heart Against The Deadly Disease Reviewed in the United States on 30 January 2015 Verified Purchase The author Yuvraj Singh is one of the most sought after cricketing star amongst the Indian youth. He is one player on whom the entire country relies upon when it
comes to winning shots and saving the game from critical situations in International Cricket. Pros: The author’s narration about his disease and the way he neglected it is a strong lesson to many who neglect their illness and avoid seeing a doctor, when something is really
wrong with their bodies. His extremely strong will power to survive and play cricket again is the trait that every cancer affected patient should adopt in order to win over this deadly disease. The author’s concern for those who cannot afford the kind of facilities and financial power that he was bestowed upon is quite commendable. Finally, his encouraging words about the sanctity in social acceptance of cancer patients is to be well received and thanked. Cons: Having lost my brother to Seminoma twelve years ago, I still feel that cure for this disease is only for the rich and famous. Cancer deaths are just not the death of a person but a death of the entire family dependant on him. Many die because they cannot afford the kind of treatment Yuvraj could get. Many do not have access to basic pain killers even. Wonder when the
real affordable generic medicine for all kinds of cancer would roll out to save lakhs of cancer-affected lives of the poorer world. There was no mention of his famous girl friend and where she was during his bad days. My favorite quote in the book: “Play the tournament for someone you love or respect or for someone who is special and has played a huge role in your life, Play it for someone you think you owe something to.” My rating is 4 out of 5 5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspirational Life Story Reviewed in the United States on 6 October 2015 Verified Purchase The author relates the story of his life and how he dealt with cancer. It is very well written and traces the story of his life, how he let go of some of his own dreams to fulfill those of his father, and how he faced the extreme scare of a potentially fatal disease and overcame the challenge with the help of caring professionals. Highly recommended. |
