Since WarnerMedia owns Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and HBO Max, we’re absolutely sure that Rick and Morty Season 5 will be coming to this streaming service. That’s the good news. The bad news is it’s going to take a long time.

Typically cable shows follow a specific and long schedule before they’re eligible to go to streaming. After the final episode airs, the season enters what’s known as a SVOD blackout period. During that time the season will only be available for digital purchase or rental. After that period is up, which takes on average seven to nine months, that season can go to streaming. That time period seems to be a bit shorter in Rick and Morty‘s case.

For example, Season 4 of the series concluded on May 31, 2020. But that season wasn’t available to stream on Hulu and HBO Max until November 1 of that same year, about five months later.

We don’t know exactly when Rick and Morty will come to streaming, but we can make some educated guesses. Assuming that this season continues with a weekly rollout, we can expect Season 5 to end on Sunday, August 22. If this season is like Season 4, it will likely take about five months before it can come to streaming. That means we’re looking at Rick and Morty Season 5 to come to HBO Max around February of 2022.

When Will Rick and Morty Season 5 Be on Hulu?

Hulu is playing with the same rules as HBO Max. Considering the SVOD blackout period, we can likely expect Rick and Morty Season 5 to come to Hulu’s basic plans in February of 2022.
