Excellence in Education...Every individual, Every dayA Message from our PrincipalHello Parents, Upson-Lee Elementary is excited to welcome our kids and parents to school on Tuesday, August 2nd. We have some important information to share with you regarding the beginning of school. Parents will be allowed to walk students to their classrooms the first two days of school. Starting Thursday, we ask you to trust our staff to guide them to their classrooms, so they can begin learning the routine. Morning Drop-Offs: Students may be dropped off in the front of the school. Please make sure you are following the single line for drop-offs closest to the building. There will be no double lines this year. If you want to walk your student in on Tuesday or Wednesday, you may park along the side of Knight Trail. Afternoon Pick-Ups: We are excited to announce that we have a new car-rider system. Each student is assigned a car-rider number. If you attended open house, you should have received a temporary car-rider pass(bright pink) to display on your dashboard. The car- rider line will assemble closest to the building. If you did not receive a pass, please be prepared to come in tomorrow afternoon to pick up a pass. Someone will instruct you where to park. Lunchroom: Due to the continuous shortage of food supply, at this time we are not inviting parents in to eat with their students. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, August 2nd! 2022-23 Teacher of the Year CONGRATULATIONS to ULES teacher Mrs. Yodie Ellerbee!!! Mrs. Ellerbee, a 3rd grade Math and Science teacher, was announced today as the ULES 2022-23 Teacher of the Year!!! She was selected by her peers to represent ULES and will advance to the T-U system Teacher of the Year competition. A well-organized and dedicated teaching staff is supported by administrators and instructional coaches. Educators monitor all scholars to ensure that their learning is progressing on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Common planning times allow teachers to discuss strategies across subjects, compare best practices, and target problems quickly and effectively. In addition to the core academic courses, scholars receive instruction in music, art, and physical education. Scholars may audition for the ULE chorus, which has been recognized at the regional and state levels. A Challenge program is available for accelerated learners. In 2017, the school completed a 1:1 computing initiative, providing students with frequent, integral use of technology across the curriculum.
