My husband has a disease called diabetes insipidus, which makes him furiously thirsty. He takes medication to control the symptoms, but sometimes it doesn't work well. If he has a bad med night, he will chug half a gallon of milk, or a 2 liter of soda, or the jug of fancy orange juice. He does this in the middle of the night without realizing it. He's like a zombie who wants tasty drinks instead of brains. This lock keeps my precious beverages safe. It goes between the two handles of my fridge but allows him access to the water dispenser when he sleep walks to kitchen for something to drink. It's a win/win, hooray!

I wish it was a little bit longer and it seems that mine can’t retract when the lock is in the locking position (metal bit in its hole to lock. Idk a good way to explain that eloquently) to tighten easily. I need to keep the bit close, retract THEN lock it up

This is exactly what I was looking for to keep a mischievous toddler, who is obsessed with eggs right now, from getting into the fridge to play with (and break) our eggs.

Love that the length of the cord is adjustable, and is a combination lock that isn’t too bothersome for the rest of the family to access the fridge. The buttons to open and adjust the length (which can only work if the 3 digit combo has been adjusted correctly) aren’t obvious for a toddler. She outsmarted the child proof band thing we had on it before by just pulling hard enough to rip it off at the adhesive. But she can’t outsmart this.

This is a nice quality lock, I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I’m sure we’ll find other uses for it in the future. Highly recommend.

3 ft seems long but it isn't when you have to consider wrapping it around the suitcase and to whatever post you want to attach it to. 6 ft would have been better I feel.

We used this on a cross-country Amtrak trip. This was a way we could secure our bags to a seat when we left for meals etc. it’s great to deter snatch and grab type situations.

Just what I expected! I will be buying again in the future :)

Didn't buy this for ultimate security to stop real theives but love that it's compact and easy to lock motorcycle luggage/helmets/etc to stop casual thieves from just walking off with.my stuff.

I bought this knowing there is no way to prevent theft but why not make it a little harder for those opportunist, jaded, robbers? Setting up the code was super easy. It will be real handy at the airport when I am distracted and need my backpack somewhat secure. I'll string this through every zipper holder. Quite frankly though 4 digit code is harder to guess, a pair of plyers will do the trick and way faster. Still, I hope this prevents those pesky opportunist, jaded, robbers who take advantage and do not bother carrying tools.

I've traveled with cable locks like these for decades. I decided it was finally time to upgrade to TSA approved cable locks even though I use them only when I am with luggage. These cables have so many uses. I bought 2. When I have a long layover in an airport I cable my carry on and personal bag to the leg of a table in the cafeteria while I am eating or working. When I am traveling with someone we might cable all our luggage and personal items together in the lounge area. In restaurants while traveling I can cable personal bags to a table leg or extra chair if that seems wise. In Norway I had to put my luggage on a rack by the train door. I could see the rack, but I couldn't find a seat near it. So I cabled my locked suitcase to the rack. No one could grab it and run out the door at the train stops. And so on....

5.0 out of 5 stars however if you can McGuyver it through then it is great stuff. Locking combination can be easily reset

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 14, 2017

The pin at the end of the cable is too big to go through the hole on a regular zipper, however if you can McGuyver it through then it is great stuff.

Locking combination can be easily reset, the numbers are a little-bit wonky, so I would keep a set of pliers handy when I travel, in case they fail.

3.0 out of 5 stars It’s ok for a deterrent, not security

The media could not be loaded.

I bought this lock to tie skis together when we go into the lodge. I know I’m only buying a deterrent and not full security, so I have a proper kryptonite-style lock on one pair and use this to tie the rest of the skis to the secure pair. Pros/cons:
Pros:
-cheap price
-retractable cable
-compact
-multi-use possibilities, so I’ll use it for luggage, too

Cons:
-no instructions for setting the combination, and the link on the manufacturer website is dead. DEEPLY FRUSTRATING! I put a video here to show how it’s done
-not weather-proof. I’ll post an update if the weather gets to it
-cannot retract cable once the pin is inserted into the lock. That’s a big negative for me, because I was hoping to wrap the cable around the skis, insert the pin into the lock, and hit the retract button to “suck” the slack cable in to tighten the bundle. Can’t be operated like that, so I wrap the skis, firmly hold the pin next to the lock, retract the extra cable, then insert the pin. It’s not difficult, just not as convenient

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for what it is...

As others have suggested, this won't prevent a determined bike thief, but if you're using it on something like skis (like I am), it will definitely make a crook move on down the line. I also can't comment on longevity, as I've only used it twice. Naturally, because of the WooHoo Flu here in Ontario, the ski hills have been shut down, but I'm trusting that if things ever open up again, then this thing will make it through at least a season or three. Cable easily travels through ski pole straps, around skis, and also around the ski rack. Push one of the buttons and the extra slack is taken up, and you're quickly off to a race against time against undoing ski pants and using the 'facilities'...

5.0 out of 5 stars Vas a la playa solo, quieres nadar pero temes dejar tus cosas solas?

Reviewed in Mexico on July 10, 2021

Excelente producto, totalmente recomendable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Using it to lock my snowboard 🏂

Reviewed in Canada on March 2, 2022

I wanted a light cable lock to secure my snowboard on the mountain.
What I like about a cable, is that you can lock it pretty much anywhere.
It was easy to reset it and change the combination. The cable extend and return via the side button and lock on the side.
It’d lightweight to carry in my jacket pocket.
Just great!
