Volume: 50ml

Made in: France

What is it?: An SPF50+ Sun Fluid/Cream

What the Brand Says: This SPF helps keep the skin both nourished + protected. It’s lightweight + airy and spreads across the skin easily without looking heavy or greasy. Keep skin nourished and protected. This SPF has been specifically made for sensitive skin with high-protection.

Important: This also contains PPD 46 (Persistent Pigment Darkening), which is higher than the European Recommendation as La Roche Posay has a technology (patented) called Mexoplex® which means this SPF should help prevent dark spots from forming + getting darker.

  • This SPF is meant to stay on the skin for a long time and not be tampered by sand and sweat, and is water-resistant. This should also not provide white marks on clothing.

I would agree that this SPF doesn’t seem to move and slide around on the skin which is good. I also didn’t notice any marks on clothing, but I did notice some on my towel when tapping the sweat on my brow while working out.

Supposedly Good for: All Skin Types

What I think: I think Combination (and Dry) Skins would enjoy this (as it’s a fluid but has a slightly thicker texture than the Garnier Sun Fluid (HERE). I do think Oily Skins could use this but the finish is dewy. I also think Sensitive skins could use this due to the lack of Fragrance.

Packaging: As you can see from the picture below; this is a squeeze-y tube with a nozzle tip that allows precise application. There is also a small ball inside that rattles when you shake the product. This comes with a cap you screw on.

Directions: ”Apply 30 minutes before exposure and reapply frequently and generously every two hours to maintain protection especially after swimming, perspiring or towelling. Shake well before use. Avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day. Keep children under 3 out of the sun.” (From the Website).

How I use it: I apply this in the AM before working out (doesn’t sting my eyes or ball up so I can use it under a mask and when I’m sweating). I apply 2 layers which is important especially for a sun fluid (thinner texture).

White Cast?: No this provides no white cast (chemical/organic SPF).

Sunscreen Filters: Drometrizole Trisiloxane (Mexoryl Xl) (7%), Bemotrizinol (5%), Octisalate (5%), Octocrylene (5%), Avobenzone (3%), Homosalate (2%), Ensulizole (0.5%)

Full Ingredients: Aqua / Water, Alcohol Denat., Diisopropyl Sebacate, Silica, Isopropyl Myristate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate
Ethylhexyl Triazone, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Butyl, Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Glycerin, C12-22 Alkyl Acrylate/Hydroxyethylacrylate Copolymer Propanediol, Drometrizole Trisiloxane, Perlite, Tocopherol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, Triethanolamine, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate.

Yes this contains Denatured Alcohol, but I understand that it’s very common in Sun Fluids as it keeps the texture both lightweight and layerable (prevents balling up). If you’re worried about the alcohol drying out your skin, then simply apply a moisturiser underneath. But I personally don’t find this SPF drying.

Swatch Video:

Texture: This is a lightweight, spreadable fluid. It’s not as thin as the Missha Aqua Sun Gel OR the Garnier Ambre Solaire Sun Fluid. I think it has a very similar texture to the Isntree Water Sun Gel (Review HERE).

This is not mattifying, but it doesn’t mean that this is uncomfortably sticky / tacky. What I like to do if I’m wearing makeup, is I like to use some invisible powder to reduce the shine/dew.

Layerability: This layers fine! I don’t get any balling up.

Stings the Eyes?: No! This has been formulated to limit eye stinging. I have worked out in this and it did not sting my eyes.

Summer or Winter?: Summer SPF (not thick or moisturising like an SPF Cream).

Fragrance?: This is a reformulated version so this now has no added fragrance/ essential oils. This has a typical SPF filter smell.

Good Under Makeup?: Yes this is fine under makeup as this doesn’t ball up.

How long have I been using this?: Until completion (I used this almost daily and applied 2 layers, so I ran out in 1-2 months.

The Effect?: Due to the slight thicker nature of this fluid, it does provide a moisturising barrier and of course, provides sun protection.

What I like:

  • Smooth Texture
  • Doesn’t ball up
  • No White Cast
  • Doesn’t dry my skin out (does provide a moisturising barrier due to the slight thickness of this fluid)
  • Doesn’t feel heavy
  • Easy to spread
  • Layerable
  • High protection

What I don’t like:

  • Not a matte finish (not like the Missha Aqua Sun Gel – Review HERE)
  • Also not as thin as the Missha Aqua Sun Gel or the Garnier Ambre Solaire Sun Fluid

Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4.3/5 – It’s the price and the dewy finish that prevents this from being perfect for me. This is probably the thickest fluid I’ve tried, but because it doesn’t ball/pill up, it doesn’t bother me as much.

Would I repurchase?: Yes! Especially as this doesn’t contain fragrance anymore. The only detriment is the price of this, especially when something like the Garnier SPF50+ Sun Fluid Exists which is Half the Price (But not as textural-y nice), LINK HERE.

Dupe?: The Missha Aqua Sun Gel (Review HERE and Purchase Link HERE) – I prefer the finish of the Missha (More Matter) or the Garnier Ambre Solair Sun Fluid (Youtube Video HERE and Purchase Link HERE) – As this is MUCH cheaper. Another Recent FLUID SPF I’ve tried is the VICHY Capital Soleil UV Age Daily Cream 40ml SPF50 (Link HERE), and that seems lightweight/ no white cast).

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
