Iphone x stuck on apple logo reddit

I think my charging cable was shortcircuited because it stinged me a bit when I plugged it in my iphone after which my iphone has stopped working. My screen is stuck at the apple logo and doesnt work further. i reboot it and it goes black and shows the apple logo again idc about my phone but my data inside it is invaluable. what do I do how do I fix it please help me. It wont even connect to my computer so that I can access Itunes.

No iCloud backup? People that cherish their data never seem to back it up. Have you looked thru iCloud.com for the data you need? That phone eventually needs to be wiped clean. If they don’t boot up you cannot just access it’s data like it’s a computer.

If hard reboot didn’t work, you should try putting it in recovery mode while connected to a computer and try to update the iPhone without losing the data.

What a twist. Try DFU and see if you can’t restore that way. If not, SOL. If your data is that precious, start backing it up.

There are steps for if it gets stuck during boot up. Please pay close attention when you reach step 4 that states:

"4. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data."

I have a refurbished iPhone 10. A month ago or so I dropped it and the dot projector on the face id broke but I was still able to use the phone. Recently the phone got stuck in an infinite boot loop and the phone won't turn on. I've tried force restarting by pressing the volume up, then volume down, then press and held the power button while it was in the boot loop and it didn't fix it. So I put the phone in recovery mode and I tried to plug it into the computer and I tried to use itunes to both do a software update and a restore (factory reset) but neither worked. When itunes got to "preparing iphone for restore/update" the phone exited recovery mode and the sound from the computer told me that it disconnected from the computer. Then the apple logo came on and off twice before booting back to recovery mode. On itunes it said it couldn't update or restore the phone with an error code of 4013. I don't know what else to do with this thing. I called apple and they said it will be $500 to get it fixed at an apple store. No way I'm doing that when the phone being sold online that's refurbished is under $300. What else can I do with this phone to fix it myself? I've tried so many things. Please help.

Are you familiar with the difference between DFU and restore mode? DFU mode, in theory, should be possible to enter by hardware. Also DFU mode doesn't show anything on the screen.

Entering "real" DFU is still easy though.

Connect the phone to iTunes. Press Vol +, Vol - and keep holding the power button. When the display turns black (if this doesn't happen we really have an issue here) continue holding power and also keep holding Vol -. Release Power after 5 secs, keep holding Vol-. Release all buttons when itunes shows a popup about a new device.

Also, only click "restore" in itunes. Never use "Upgrade" to downgrade, that could potentially cause such issues.

Sorry for this explanation if you know what DFU mode is, in my experience many people mistake it for restore mode...

Put the phone into recovery mode, plug phone into a computer and open finder/iTunes. Try to force an update, if you can’t you will need to restore the phone. Restoring the phone full wipes the phone so hope you have a backup.
