Hunter lyrics have a nice life

Hunter, I'm laid out on the forest floor
Arrows in my back and sides
Down among the leaves and stones
You can wear my skin as armor
You can eat my flesh and bones
Leave nothing that is needed
All I have is yours

And I'll give myself up to your sharpened edges
I no longer cling to my life
Yes, I'm finally giving in

Teeth and hate end our relationship
Of course it's sad, but that's the way it is
Your violence always wins the day
Yes, your violence wins

And I'll give myself up to your sharpened edges
I no longer cling to my life
Yes, I'm finally giving in

Oh, and you watch as the animals
Lay themselves
Down at your feet
A thousand bared teeth
A thousand bowed heads
Yes, they're begging you for death
The Hunter does us all a great service
And we've done so much to deserve it

Hunter lyrics have a nice life

I’m curious what lyrics from all of HANL’s stuff hit you the hardest. For me, “An ocean ringed with tile/I know that’s not your style” are possibly the most despondent lyrics I’ve heard in my life.

Hunter lyrics have a nice life

level 1

"The Hunter does us all a great service, and we've done so much to deserve it." Hunter as a whole is simply haunting and epic, this line just reinforces it.

level 1

TAKE THIS BODY AND STRING IT UP

I DON'T FEEL ANYTHING WHEEERE THIS LOVE SHOOOOUULD BEEEEE

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RELEASE ME

level 1

Idk if Giles Corey counts, but "I open up my heart and stick my fingers in / but you will never want what I have to give"

level 1

"Is this what it's like? Is this what is gonna be like?"

level 1

“I never thought that life could last this long. I thought I’d be found out so long ago.”

“A sign that I’ve been praying for, a solemn auger pure and true to tell me what to do ... I’ve been waiting on a song I can sing along”

level 1

I am never going to love another soul
Even if I tried to
And I am never going to live another life
Even if I’d die to
And I am never going to rest my weary head
Or fold these arms together
And I am never even going to give a shit
If life goes on forever

level 1

"I don't want to feel this anymore/But if I don't, that's fake/I don't want to do this anymore/But there's nothing else to take"

level 1

"I'm miserable whenever I think of it and I think of it all the time"

level 1

"We wish we were dead" from Earthmover.

"I am born to be alone, I am just some lonely ghost" from Blackest Bile.

"Oh, I wish I was alive" from Guggenheim Wax Museum. To me, that line represents the feeling of feeling so depressed that you're not "living", you're just surviving and making it to the next day. So you wish you were alive—because you're in so much agony, you feel like you're dying.

level 2

We wish we were dead!!!

I was crying at this moment on RB2019, what a powerful moment!

level 1

The "So please, please, please release me" on The Big Gloom has been for years like a mantra I must listen/repeat when I'm down.

level 1

the entirety of Cropsey,Defenestration Song,I Don't Love.

level 1

This is really fucking tough. Dan is honestly one of the best lyricists and frontmen, and his lyrics for Giles Corey and Black Wing are just as amazing. With that said, I'm gonna give you some of my favorite songs, lyrics wise, for HANL, GC, and BW

HANL:

  • Who Would Leave Their Son Out in the Sun?

  • I Don't Love

  • Earthmover

  • Burial Society

  • Cropsey

  • Defenestration Song

Giles Corey:

  • Blackest Bile (this song is probably the best lyrical representation of how I've felt in my worst bouts of depression)

  • Spectral Bride

  • Grave Filled with Books

Black Wing:

  • If I Let Him In

  • My Body Betrayed Me

  • Luther

level 1

"I Don't Love" really be knocking me the fuck out emotionally

level 1

"We wish we were alive

But noone really is"

level 1

A thousand bared teeth

A thousand bowed heads

Yes, they're begging you for

Death

level 1

"Come on, come on, come on, come on, you know you're alright: you're not dead, but you're dead... well you know what I mean."

This, along with the second repetition where the harmony kicks in, summons my soul from the bottom of the well, every time.

level 2

underrated track...I wish they would rerecord and release this song

level 1

“So please, please, please release me”

“Cut my wrists, slit my throat, take this body and string it up And I’ll never know what you said, because I’ll be fucking dead by then”
