So you can 100% do any of those scenarios. Just b/c WF and Chase are integrated with Zelle on their website/app for easy access means nothing. They don’t own Zelle. It’s fully an independent app. Venmo, Zelle and PayPal do send $ to his account. Once you send it he signs in and inputs what account he wants the transfer to end up at - ANY bank. Once he does that it’s an instant transfer to his account.

Download Zelle, link your account (account # or debit) type in your transfer info and their email or phone #. They get an email to approve the transfer and then can enter their account info at whatever bank for it to further transfer there. The app is just for transfers, it doesn’t sit there to be spent in the app.

You can send external transfers, just click on their transfer button. You can also use Venmo, Zelle, PayPal etc.

If you have an account with both Chime and Cash App, you might want to transfer money between the two at some point in time. There are several ways to transfer money from Chime to the Cash App.

1. Transfer money from Chime to anyone

How to Transfer Money from Chime to Anyone

Up until this year, Chime members could only send or receive money from and to other Chimers. That was obviously not ideal, and luckily, Chime did change this, so now we can transfer money to anyone. And all you need is their phone number or email address.

To send money to someone who isn’t on Chime, open the ‘Pay Friends’ tab and enter their email or phone number. You can then add the amount that you want to transfer and a message or a GIF.

If you’re ready to send, tap ‘Pay now’. That’s it. Your friend has 14 days to enter their bank account information to claim the money you sent them instantly. 

Although you haven’t sent money directly to their Cash App account, they can easily do it themselves afterward. The transfer is easier for the sender than the receiver, that’s for sure, at least if they need money on the Cash App.  

Transfer Money from Chime to Cash App

To transfer money directly from Chime to Cash App, you’ll have to link your Chime account or card with the Cash App from the Cash App itself. It means that you should do this only if it’s your own Cash App account because otherwise, the Cash App owner will have your Chime login details which is no good.

Ok, so let’s see how to do it. 

1. Open Cash App

Open your Cash App and access your profile. You can open your profile by tapping on your photo. It’s a similar process if you’re using the desktop to do this.

2. Add bank account

Find the ‘Add Bank’ button and tap on it. This will open a list of many popular bank accounts, and Chime is on it as well. Tap the Chime icon. 

3. Log in to your Chime account

Now you’ll have to log in to your Chime account with your credentials. This will connect the two accounts, and you’ll be ready to transfer money now.

4. Transfer money 

You can either send a small amount of money to test if the accounts are linked, or you can send your planned amount straightaway. I usually send a buck when connecting my various accounts just to see that everything’s working properly. You can do this as well, but it’s not essential. 

Transfer Money from Chime Debit Card to Cash App

You can also connect your Chime debit card to your Cash App account to transfer money that way. The steps to do so are very similar. 

Instead of choosing to add a bank account, choose to add a card. You’ll have to enter your card number to connect the two.

If you don’t already have a Chime card, know that you can use it to withdraw money from ATMs, pay for online and offline transactions, and whatever else you use your debit card for. 

Can you transfer money from Cash App to Chime?

If you need to send money from your Cash App account to your Chime account, you’ll need to connect the two, as we previously mentioned. That way, you can Cas Out to your designated Chime bank account.

To cash out funds from your Cash App to your Chime account:

1. Tap the ‘Balance’ tab on your Cash App home screen
2. Tap ‘Cash Out’
3. Choose an amount and press ‘Cash Out’
4. Select the deposit speed (Instant or Standard)
5. Confirm the transfer with your PIN or Touch ID

How much does a Cash App transfer cost?

You can choose between two speed options when cashing out, and they will dictate the cost of the transfer as well. Instant Deposits arrive in your account instantly but will cost you a 1.5% fee (minimum $0.25).

The other option is Standard, which is free, but it takes one to three business days to complete the process. 

How much money can I send to Cash App?

Unless you’ve verified your Cash App account, it comes with a $1,000 per month sending and receiving cap. Only people over 18 can be verified. 

To verify your identity, use your full name, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of your SSN. If the company still cannot verify your identity, you’ll need to send them additional information.

Once you’re verified, the limits will be increased. 

The Bottom Line

As you can see, it’s rather easy to transfer money between Chime and Cash App if you own both of the apps. If you’re sending money to a friend, you’re better off sending money to their bank account and letting them sort it out. 

They can, among other things, send the money to their Cash App account if they really need to.
