How to switch from one straight talk phone to another

The Activation Kit allows your phone to work on our service with either a SIM card or a network access code. The Service Plan lets you choose how much talk, text and data you’ll need each month.

With an Activation Kit in hand and a Service Plan set up, you can follow the simple directions on our activation page to activate your phone. You’ll even get to choose to keep your old number or a pick a new one if you prefer.

Activate my Straight Talk Service with a number from another company

To successfully complete this process you will need to provide the information indicated below about your current service.
This information can be found on your billing statement or by contacting your current service provider.

    -- Your contact Information as it is registered with your current service provider

What happens if you take out your SIM card and put it in another phone?

GSM phones used subscriber identity module (SIM) cards. A SIM card is a small card that's inserted into the phone. It contains all your contacts and settings, and it's linked to your account. You could take the SIM card out, put it into another phone, and if someone called your number, the new phone would ring.

How long does it take for Straight Talk to transfer to new phone?

The transfer process could take as long as 2 business days, but in most cases it only takes a few hours. Transfers for landline numbers may take longer. If your Straight Talk service remains inactive over 30 days, you will lose your telephone number.
