How to check other email accounts with gmail

I am using GMail to collect mails from other non-Google email accounts. It turned out that GMail uses its own rules to check new mails in these external accounts. This does not happen in real time or at least periodically with the required frequency (say, every 1 or 2 minutes). Even the Refresh button above the mail list does not help if I want to check mails manually. To nudge GMail to check emails in external accounts, I open its Settings (first Quick Settings, then All settings, then open the Accounts and Import tab, and finally click the Check mail now link in the Check mail from other accounts: section.

My questions:

  1. Is there any setting that makes the Refresh button work for external accounts?

  2. How to set the desired frequency of checking mails in external accounts from GMail?

Adding other mailboxes to Outlook.com

Microsoft removed the ability to connect any other accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021, but accounts connected before May 10, 2021, will continue to sync.

Tips:

  • Premium customers can add their Google Mail and Calendar accounts as an additional mailbox.

  • To see all your email accounts, calendars, and contacts in a combined inbox, download Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android.

  • If you want to create another email address that uses the same inbox, sent, items, and contact list as your existing Outlook.com account, read how to create an email alias.

  • If you want a completely fresh start, sign out of Outlook.com, then create a new account.

Frequently asked questions about connected accounts on Outlook.com

Yes. Accounts that were connected before May 10, 2021, will continue to sync as usual. Email that has already synced will continue to appear in your inbox unless you remove it manually.

To continue seeing email from other accounts:

  • Download Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android, which lets you sync your email, calendar, and contacts with other email accounts, easily switch between accounts, and offers a combined inbox, search, and an integrated calendar experience. For more information about how to set up Outlook mobile on your phone, see Outlook for iOS and Android Help Center.

  • Forward email from your other accounts to Outlook.com. For more information, see Automatically forward Gmail messages to another account, and Automatic email forwarding in Yahoo Mail.

  • Connect your other account to Outlook for Windows or Outlook for Mac (see Add an email account to Outlook).

  • Connect your other accounts to Mail in Windows 10.
