How much does uber charge to rent a car

Hi. We are coming toSan Diego for five days, arriving late Thursday night and departing Tuesday morning Staying at the Embassy Suites Bayside, which is not far from the airport and near USS Midway and walking distance to restaurants etc. We have stayed here before and used a rental car as we had to drive to Temecula for a reunion and we then also used our rental car to get to the zoo, Old Town etc.

This time we were thinking of using uber/cabs instead. The first night would be q quick taxi to the hotel. The hotel charges $46. per night for parking. Is Uber/ Lyft/cabs viable and convenient? One day we will spend at the Zoo. A few days my husband has to attend a conference near Mission Bay.

Definitely recommend Uber over cabs. It's cheaper and you won't need to pay a tip. If you are catching cabs, expect to pay a tip of $5 on top of your fare.if you're planning a day trip that's far from where you're staying,renting a car will be a good idea. You can always ask the Uber driver for their mobile number and call them directly, we did just that and had a private driver on call when ever we needed. Paid him cash for all trips, he was fantastic and was a great private tour guide.

Yes, For your described activities it sounds like you won't need your own vehicle.

Uber/Lyft app on your phone is common to use.

Taxis will be right there without needing to call so up to you . For short trips I don't think it matters much which you use.

Thanks. I don't think I explained myself clearly. What I am trying to decide is whether we shouldrent a car or rely on a combination of cabs and uber. In other words, even if we want to head out to the Zoo or head out to Dog Beach. I guess I'm trying to balance convenience with price, considering that the parking fee at the hotel is $46. a day and, of course there is the cost of the rental car.

I understood your question. The zoo andBalboa Park are barely a couple of miles from your hotel. You can walk to a bus stop or take Uber/taxi and don't need a car to get there.

The same goes for many other activities you have described. It won't cost $46 to take a taxi or uber to the zoo although it might to get up to La Jolla Cove if that's on your list.

Once you start wanting to go farther and farther from your hotel then having your own car makes sense. IF you stick to close by activities then you won't need it from your location.

IF your husband wants to be able to go to his meetings and you want to do some other things you'll have to decide if having your own vehicle is worth while on those days.

Hi we just came back and we used uber all the time and it was fantastic and great value, some rides we only waited a matter of minutes for but we never waited longer than 10. It is also really cheap.

Just make sure you have wifi so that you can use the app efficiently, I used the wifi in shops and restaurants so it was fine because I didn't have a deal with my provider

Yes, I see it depends on which type of Ubercar you wish to book. I suppose it would be about $20 something not $40. There is an Uber calculator you can use on line to estimate prices. At any rate it would be $40 round trip.

Do you have a name/number for your driver. We are headed out this week and if you already have a contact for a driver we would appreciate it and contact them directly
