How long is the drive from sedona to grand canyon

is there a easy way to drive from sedona to the grand canyon sky walk and from there to laughling nv? is the road ok to drive?

i'm driving my owncar. thank any info or driving directions is appreciated it .

The drive will take 3-4 hours. The last part of the road is still poor in quality. The sky walk is a rip off. Better to go to theGrand Canyon NP at the south rim. That's where the real canyon is. It will be no more of a detour on the way to Laughlin than GCW but you'll save a ton of money ($100 per person) and you'll see the real thing,

It will be an expensive day for sure.You sure you want to go?!

Its relatively easy to get to. Just take hwy 93 out of Kingman ,turn right on Pearce Ferry Road then after about 25-30 miles turn right on Diamond Bar Road and take that in.Diamond Bar is not paved all the way.

To get to Laughlin, just retrace your steps back toward Kingman, but take Hwy 68 thru Golden Valley over the hill into Bullhead/Laughlin.

If you are going out there get there early before the tour busses start to show up.Once that happens, its a zoo.

While you are out on Pearce Ferry Road, there is a nice Joshua Tree forest right at Diamond Bar Road.

If you continue out Pearce Ferry past Meadview, there are some nice viewpoints of Lake Mead and the paved road eventually ends up at a boat launch.

If you leave early in the morning you could do both. Enter the GCNP at the east gate and drive AZ64 through the park and exit the main gate at Tusayan. Allow about 2 hours for the park viewpoints along this route. Then drive the 2+ hours to GCW and pay the $100 each for the 10 minute walk on the glass 800 feet above the rock.

Then ask DW if she thinks it was worth all of your money. Better yet, have her spend her own money. Then ask her to write a trip report about how she spent her day. Post it here.

No, you cannot make it to both in the same day. It is 2 hours fromSedona to GCNP South Rim. You need at least several hours there to see anything. It is 4 hours from GCNP South Rim to GCW, plus add time for getting a shuttle to GCW from the parking area (to avoid the unpaved portion of the road). It will take at least 2 hours to tour GCW including the Skywalk, plus about $100 per person plus parking and shuttle fee. GCW to Laughlin is about 2.5 hours plus time to get the shuttle back to your car.

Google maps says El Tovar to GC west airport is over 250 miles and 5 plus hours away.There is no way you can do both in a day.

The National park is so superior to GCW, it would be a shame to rush thru it. Spend at least an overnight at the park.

Before you commit to your plans, show your daughter a couple of things:

Visiting both Grand Canyon South Rim and Grand Canyon West in one day is doable, but ONLY if that's what you absolutely "have" to do. If you're starting off from Sedona, it will require a very early start, lots of driving and a very late night if Laughlin is your destination. Personally, I wouldn't do it. And I don't think your daughter knows exactly what it's going to require either. A lot of times folks have unrealistic expectations of the Grand Canyon Skywalk perpetrated by the artists' renderings that don't realistically depict the Skywalk and yet continue to circulate around.
