South Llano River State Park

Wooded park along the South Llano River for hiking, birdwatching, swimming, fishing, camping & more.

Slide 1 of 3

This is a really nice small state park with nice hiking trails and access points to the clear waters of the South Llano River. Lots of wildlife and a great place for dogs to explore with their humans. The bathrooms are well kept and sites are clean with good amounts of space between your neighbors. AT&T service is good, but Verizon does not work here.

Really nice little state park. We camped here in early January. Arrived after the office closed, but the camp host had a list of available spaces and recommended based on our desire to be near the bath house but as private and quiet as possible. Good bike/hike paths. Sites each had a covered picnic area so even in rain (or a different season in strong sun) you are able to eat outside.

Our first ever camping experience in a state park. The camp site we booked was a electric hookup type and the facilities are nothing short of world class. The park is very well maintained and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. In terms of connectivity, the park is just 10 mins drive off the town. Apparently this place is a bird lovers paradise and we didn't know that until we were here . Spotted a lot of birds in the park and learnt about a new hobby.

Lost Maples State Natural Area

Nature preserve

Nature & Parks

Birds & wildlife plus limestone canyons, plateaus & fall foliage watching along a river valley.

Slide 1 of 3

WOW!! This place is stunning. We only saw a tiny piece of it. We took the Lost Maples Trail. It was so beautiful. It also has a few little places where you can veer off to get a closer look at the Sabinal River. We all thoroughly enjoyed our hike on this trail. We had an 8 year old with us and he did fine. Seeing all of the trees and mammoth boulders was fun. We will be back again during the fall when we have longer to stay. Do not miss this place.

Maybe I’ll update this once I am able to visit in the autumn, but for how much this state park was hyped up to me, I wasn’t impressed. I prefer Garner and Hill Country! Back story, I’ve been trying to visit this park for SO LONG. During the height of the pandemic, this park was almost impossible to visit. I once drove all the way out here just to be told that I booked the day passes incorrectly and wasn’t able to stay. When I finally was able to enter a couple weeks ago, I was underwhelmed. The trails were quite crowded, but they were easy to follow and challenging at parts, so it felt like real deal hiking. There wasn’t as much to the park as I originally thought, but I still enjoyed myself. I’m told to return in autumn to see the leaves change, and then I’ll understand the greatness of this park

One of my favorite parks in Texas to visit. My kiddo and I camped and hiked here. She kept up with me for over 5 miles of hiking. The trick, lots of breaks. Campgrounds were so nice with your very own picnic table. The restrooms were very clean, the nicest I've seen out of the parks I've been too. The showers were amazing as well. Definitely recommend this park for anyone looking for a place to camp and hike.

The Museum of Western Art

Exhibitions & a permanent collection focus on the history & culture of settlers & Native Americans.

Slide 1 of 3

Do NOT USE Google maps or Waze to find this place. ALL of the electronic apps direct you to the wrong place. The Museum was very enjoyable starting with the architecture and continuing with the exhibits. Many Western themed items (bronze statutes, saddles beautiful paintings antique desks, etc.). Volunteers were readily available to answer questions and often provided interesting facts about the exhibits. We’ll worth the time to visit. We will be returning.

When it comes to Harvest Hosts this one's right up there. We had fun watching the poorly educated who pull in late and leave early (Cracker Bearelesk) missing a cultural upgade waiting inside. Class a's you might want to arrive toward the end of the day for more spot options. If your rig gets a window broken by a golf ball, that's what players call "a hole in one" Oh the trials of bus life.

Took about an hour to walk through and one of the couriers walked the museum with us, giving us tid bits of information along the way! He was very kind and knowledgeable. The art work was gorgeous and memorable.

Great place ! It's very calming and relaxing. Definitely coming back. I recommend coming early with your favorite coffee or favorite fruit drink and sit on a bench thats near a shady tree. Just enjoy nature, the view and the peacefulness.

This has been and still remains one of my favorites places to visit. The sense of peace and connection to God is so strong. The prayer request rocks that people leave and the memorial messages they make are beautiful, the lady out and fantastic sculptures there are just breath-taking. If you haven't already been here, you need to make plans to attend asap, it is well worth the trip.

This was our third visit to the Open Cross, and the prayer garden. This is an awesome location in Kerrville Texas, that is open to the public, at no charge. Every time we have come they have made changes, additions, and improvements. Great place to look at the artwork, and reflect on it, and it’s meanings. Great place for prayer. The prayer garden itself and the statues, our great form of worship, and testimony to the community. A lot of thought prayer and work went into this display. I highly recommend a visit, and spend some time here.

Hill Country State Natural Area

Nature preserve

Nature & Parks

Large park with rugged terrain offering 40 miles of multiuse trails, a campground & primitive sites.

Slide 1 of 3

Great hikes in the hill country. I love the rugged hill country with its rolling hills, rocky paths and dessert plants. It’s unique and breathtaking. The park is sprawling with trails that ranges from easy (prairie type) to challenging (rocky hills through elevations). The views are simply beautiful whichever way you look. Camping is quite basic, a bit close to survive the wild. Parking on premises are limited to 2 locations but there are additional parking spaces at camping grounds. Happy travels

Very nice park. Lots of trails and beautiful scenery. I'm not a horsey person but it seems to be a rider's paradise. Great staff as well.

Beautiful park with typical hill country scenery. This is a fairly primitive park with primitive facilities and popular with horseback riders. It has some nice day hikes with all-round views within a few miles. The trails are generally moderate. There will likely be no shade during your hike. The campgrounds only have porta potties.

What an intimate setting. We really enjoyed this location. We have a three year old and one year old and there were so many different seating options, we were able to sit away from everyone and enjoy our wine tasting (which really was delicious!) without disturbing others! We were pleased at the outdoor views and the staff was so friendly and knowledgeable about all the wines.

Great wine and friendly staff! Beautiful views from the parking lot.

We visited today and from the second we walked in the woman was rude to us. She definitely did not like the fact the we had the wine and wildflower pass even though we told them we had it when we made the reservation. Please go anywhere but here!!! Wildseed winery was awesome messina winery really awesome. Had a great time till here. A one star was one two many.

Bodies of Water

Slide 1 of 3

This place is the awesome, quite and beautiful! We went on the Labor Day weekend, and we have the whole place ourselves on Friday night! The water is clear and beautiful, we had such a great time there floating, finding rocks and discovered secret part of the river. Restroom and bath are very clean at the RV parking area, remember to bring some water with you if you camp in the tent area, but there is always water to wash dishes and WiFi at the RV camping area. We discovered some great wild animals there too. We saw deers at night right across our tent! And some turkey crew in the early morning. Some bat and a lot fish in the river which not scared of people at all, they will swim with you! My boyfriend even saw a small bobcat the other morning, but it run away so fast once it hear the noise lol. The owners are super nice and friendly, it is a family business. We arrived after sunset but the father and son Eric greeting us, show us around, help us setup and bring some firewood with their truck. This place seems pretty new, they said they will expand more. I suggest a small gift shop will be even better with some essentials like ice, sunblocks, small gifts, etc. So you don’t have to go the the little shop in town, but it’s only a five minuets drive from the campsite. We will definitely visit there regularly, and bring our friends and family as well!

Stayed a couple nights w my family at the tent campground & loved it! Serene environment w lots of turkey, ducks, deer, & birds. Relaxed, fished, & went swimming. Big thanks to Mr. Derek & family for their hospitality. If your looking for a peaceful get away, here's the spot. A little piece of primitive Texas heaven. Thanks, can't wait to go again!

Great monthly full-time rates, spacious and quiet. Caters to the the long term snow birds as well as weekend campers.

Rock 'n' roll-themed music venue hosting country, rock & blues tribute acts & original artists.

Slide 1 of 4

This intimate venue is the place to go for new and old favorites, as they host both tribute shows and original artists. Their specialty is rock and roll, but they also host country and blues artists. The venue isn’t too big, meaning you’ll get an intimate performance with a good seat anywhere in the house.

Venue took me back in time. Wonderful and helpful staff. Comfortable seats and authentic stage. Saw Elvis tribute band by Donny and loved every single song!!

Awesome place, never knew of the place. Awesome Led Zeppelin cover band. Other cover bands come soon, if you're in town you have to look this place up. Also nice little bar.

The staff/ owners were friendly and helpful. The seating was great and the tribute musicians for Woodstock Daze were absolutely outstanding. The parking was a bit of a mess, but other than that I would recommend this establishment and would visit again.

National Museum of the Pacific War

Numerous artifacts & interactive exhibitions focus on the history of WWII & Admiral Chester Nimitz.

Slide 1 of 7

All history buffs need to make time to visit the National Museum of the Pacific War during their trip to Fredericksburg, TX. Throughout the four main exhibits—Pearl Harbor, Doolittle Raid, Iwo Jima Victory, and Okinawa and the Atomic Bomb—you’ll learn all about the American contribution to the Pacific war during WWII. The National Museum of the Pacific War is home to copious precious war artifacts, warplanes, submarines, war hero awards, and authentic bomb casings. To complete your experience, be sure to watch some of their feature video presentations, which will be sure to tug on your heartstrings.

This important museum is the only historical site dedicated to the United State’s Pacific campaign during World War II. It first opened in 1968, and since then, the museum has grown to become one of the most famous historical sites in the country. Its campus spans six acres and rightfully so, as the museum expanded over the years seeing new additions to its collection. The George H.W. Bush Gallery opened in 2009 and features a wealth of historical artifacts.

The National Museum of the Pacific War is located at the boyhood home of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Nimitz was Commander in Chief, Pacific Ocean Areas during World War II. The six-acre site includes the Admiral Nimitz Museum, which tells the story of Nimitz beginning with his life as a young boy through his naval career.

This place was on my list, but we ran out of time to actually go and visit. I blame that on the fact that our AirBnB had a hot tub, and the kids were begging to go back to the house to “swim” instead. I’ve heard such great things, and we will definitely go back to check this place out next time!

We've visited the museum multiple times over the past 20 years, since it was just the Admiral Nimitz Museum and we've always enjoyed our time at the museums. The seemingly new area (we haven't been to the museum in about 5 years) detailing the life of Admiral Nimitz is fantastic and has a great mix of information graphics, multimedia, artifacts, and interactive activities. The park where they have the PT Boat, map, reenactment amphitheater, etc. was really lovely and it's a short walk from the main museum.

The museum is a great experience for the entire family. To fully enjoy the entire museum, I would recommend blocking 3-5 hours of your time. The museum does a great job of walking viewers through the entire Pacific War. You'll walk away with a great understanding of all the events. Currently, they limit the number of visitors. I would recommend getting there early or buying tickets in advance.

Outstanding presentation. Not enough words. Top notch. Plan on a few hours. Could actually spend a whole day or more for sure. The whole Nimitz story so very interesting. The free live shows really ads to the experience.

Another external exhibit of the National Museum of the Pacific War, the newly opened Admiral Nimitz Gallery aims to tell the unique stories of the heroes of the Pacific fleet during WWII. Of course, the story of Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, local to Fredericksburg, is the focal point of this honorary gallery. Throughout the exhibit, you will navigate interactive learning experiences, watch inspiring video presentations, and browse these heroes’ personal heirlooms, including medals of honor and uniforms.

I love coming back here again. Always a wonderful atmosphere and a superior products. I love their selection of tasty cocktails. What ever your favorite drink they can recreate using their own spin and product.

Love this place! Great food (barbecue truck), great variety of alcoholic beverages and the staff are friendly. Not really staff, they feel more like lifelong friends or distant family. You can't go wrong here. If you're looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the place to go!

Great ambiance, live music a plus, five dollar moonshine tasting was worth the drive from san antonio. Took my grandparents for a day trip away from the city and they loved it! Service was friendly, welcoming, and informative.

What a spectacular place to visit. This is a great place to visit with the entire family. You can take in the loop, which is 3+ mile hike. The loop's trail is fairly easy. Or, if you want something more challenging, you can hike up the Rock. To drive in the park, you must make reservations; otherwise, you risk not being allowed to park or camp. Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, especially on those warm days.

Plenty to see and do here on multiple hiking trails. The Summit Trail to the top is a leg-burner at times but well worth the half-mile effort. Take your time to enjoy the views and the rock formation itself and you'll be able to make it. We also did the Loop Trail, which is about 4.6 miles around the outside of the Granite Dome and it offers various views of the dome from different angles, which was neat to see. Several other trails offer different experiences, too, but we'll have to check those out another day. This is a park we'll go back to. Note that you need reservations for timed entry and weekends are way busier than weekdays. Also, there is rustic camping available both near the parking lot and off of the hiking trails. Bring plenty of water because there is little shade anywhere. There are vault toilets along the Loop Trail. Also, watch for snakes, we had a rattler on the Loop Trail when we went. Plenty of parking but RVs would have a tough time maneuvering to anything but the half-dozen spots in the RV lot. Also note the closest gas is about 18 miles away in Fredericksburg, and there is little to no cell service in much of the park (for Verizon and T-Mobile).

This was my fourth time to Enchanted Rock, first time bringing our kids. We felt they were finally old enough, 7 and 10. We saw several families with littles, and I just wouldn’t recommend it if you want to hike the summit. This however is such a beautiful park, wonderfully kept, clean, I love it! I will say though, plan ahead, go online and reserve. We went the week of spring break and we reserved the 30 days ahead (they won’t let you reserve more than 30 days ahead), but there were people getting turned away who were trying to walk in. Plan ahead. Bring water. It’s windy at the summit, so bring a jacket. Other than that, enjoy one of the most incredible natural features of central Texas!

Very cool stop outside of San Antonio. Interesting to see & learn about the history of the house. Host there was very knowledgeable. Do drop some dollars in the box and take a visitor’s guide. Then continue on to the Castroville walking tour to see all the houses (you can drive around too if you prefer).

we made a short trip to this little town when we were staying in San Antonio during Thanksgiving break. This town is conveniently located near San Antonio. We went there but the visitor center was closed that day. However we were able to experience beautiful architecture that this building offered.

Beautiful gift from France. It is Castroville's Visitor Center. It is packed full of European furniture and decor. Two floors are open to the public. Woman inside was helpful and friendly. Ask where the locals eat, then go. Take the self guided walking tour. You will not be disappointed!

Wow the Christmas event! This is hands down the BEST Christmas event I’ve been to in the 6 years I’ve lived in the San Antonio area. My kids loved it so much and all the adults did too. Great value (free under age 5), so much to do, great space, we felt safe given Covid too as most was outdoor or open air!

Definitely a must for the annual Old West Christmas Light Fest!! Tons of family fun, from laser tag, live music, smores, and even bull riding!! great food options, and a handful of "saloons" for the adults 😅 Get those tickets and plan for a night of good ol'fashion Texas fun ❤️

Loved visiting! Definitely a family atmosphere with lots of fun activities for the whole family. They had a nice singer, cows, beautiful lights, and food and drinks.

Super cute winery with lots of our door seating and very pleasant views of the surrounding hill country. The winery has a nice selection of red and whites with 1 very good rosé. Their wines are not super sweet and this season they did not have a wine that was sweet. But all of them were very good and the variety offers something for everyone.

If you are looking for a beautiful romantic place to enjoy a glass of wine without any other expectations this place will definitely do the trick. It was not overly friendly and welcoming, had stunning views, but over all it was just nice to try.

We were pleasantly surprised!!! There are no sweet wines here, and I am not a huge dry wine fan, however, all the drys were actually pretty good and easy to drink!! The staff was super nice and the views are beautiful! They allow picnics, so grab a bottle of wine from them and bring your food and enjoy the views!

This should be a must stop for everyone. So many things to see, trails, all types of wildlife, memorials to read along the way. Luckily when we went it was cloudy. There's a lot of walking if you plan on going on all the trails. The parking was plentiful and there was no charge when we went. We had a blast! Spent at least 2 hrs here but feel we didn't see everything. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

It is a beautiful area and the ranch is lovely. The Texas White House was closed for work, but it was fun to look around the ranch and visit the sites. It is a nice drive and some nice things to see. There are lots of cows and some goat to visit as well. It is worth the stop and only takes an hour or so to see it all.

My sister's and I visited the park on a hill country trip we took together. The park was gorgeous! There is so much to see and do there, and tails to walk so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. The park rangers were friendly and hospitable, they have a great gift shop and clean restrooms. I will definitely be returning with my husband to show him this beautiful jewel in our beautiful hill country and you should visit too! (BTW, if you love wine, the drive there is on the main road to many of the best wines in the hill country, just thought you should know.) 😊

Aquariums

Marine life shows, thrill rides, aquariums & up-close encounters with dolphins, penguins & more.

Slide 1 of 30

Part aquarium, part thrill-packed theme park, SeaWorld San Antonio lets visitors get closer than ever to tons of marine life, including dolphins, penguins, and polar bears, get splashed by killer whales, and then get an adrenaline rush reaching speeds of up to 50-miles per hour on sea-themed themed thrill rides. Adrenaline-seekers will want to map their day at SeaWorld around the many thrill rides, like the fast-moving The Great White® ride featuring 360-degree flips and corkscrews, or The Steel Eel's 15-story vertical drop and camelbacks that give you a feeling of weightlessness. When the afternoon sun is at its hottest, cool off on the classic splash-drop coaster ride Journey to Atlantis® or the Rio Loco®--just be prepared to get soaked!

For over two decades, Sea World has reigned as the top San Antonio attraction for kids and the largest of the nation's Sea World aquarium chain. With marine life exhibits, thrilling rides, entertaining shows, a water park, dining options and educational opportunities for children, Sea World is a must-see San Antonio attraction for families with children. Popular attractions at Sea World include the Shamu killer whale shows, the Sharks/Coral Reef exhibit, Dolphin Cove, Penguin Encounter, the Great White roller coaster and the Lost Lagoon water park.

At Sea World, you can experience up-close animal interactions, dive into the world beneath the waves on thrilling rides like the Great White coaster, and enjoy awe-inspiring shows. Check out Discovery Point, where you can experience dolphins through nose-to-bottlenose encounters. Their all-new Sesame Street Parade features everyone’s favorite Sesame Street® friends, 10 themed floats, contemporary tunes including Sesame Street favorites, and two show-stopping performances throughout the parade route.

For the animal lovers who also enjoy a good theme park ride, SeaWorld San Antonio is where it’s at. You’ll get a chance to not only learn all about the sea creatures that SeaWorld works to protect but see several of them perform in exhilarating shows and displays. We especially like the sea lion show, where you can enjoy these adorable creatures playing with their keepers and one another. As far as the thrill rides go, the Wave Breaker is a popular favorite, as is Steel Eel Roller Coaster.

SeaWorld should be on everyone's list when visiting San Antonio, no matter what your age. Although they have some great rides, such as the Steel Eel and Great White rollercoasters, the best reason to go to SeaWorld is for the animals and the animal-centric shows. They have dolphins and stingrays that you can "pet" if you are lucky enough for them to swim by you, a magnificent oceanarium filled with all sorts of creatures, including sharks and giant sea turtles.

Many major cities across the world have a Sea World, and it is little wonder because this is such a popular attraction. When you visit Sea World San Antonio, you can look forward to exploring a diverse array of marine life, learning more about them, and enjoying an incredible time filled with education, fun and fascination. Of course, you can also delight at the variety of shows that See World has become so famous for.

The San Antonio sea world is the oldest marine theme park in the world having been opened in the year 1988. Here, you get to admire a number of sea legends such as otters, sting rays, eels, dolphins, seals, penguins, tropical fishes, American alligators, flamingoes, whales and belugas. Four graduates from the University of California dreamed of founding an underwater restaurant in the 1960s. Because this idea was deemed unfeasible, they decided to build a park instead. SeaWorld began with only a few dolphins, sea lions, and six attractions, but in its first year, over 400,000 visitors loved their little park.

Great park on the west side of San Antonio. It's a bit oddly hidden behind a bunch of neighborhoods / a school / people's homes. The park is beautifuly maintained and the staff are beyond friendly and all seem willing to help with anything you need or ask about. I mainly came for the roller coasters but I found myself stopping and reading signs and checking out a few animal exhibits as they looked really neat. Definitely worth your time if You're in the San Antonio area.

The five stars go to the shows: the sea lions and the orcas were amazing. The park overall is definitely worth visiting, more than once too. The only suggestion to the future visitors is that the quick pass for the rides is a must, otherwise you will spend hours waiting in line.

Great park! 10 times better than Sea World Orlando. Rides were fun, fast, and short line when I went. It's located on top of a hill so you get nice view, long walks from ride to ride, and plenty of shades. Love that they have plenty of seats for you to sit and wait, or just enjoy the view. Family enjoyed it a lot.

Cave Without A Name

Scenic cavern open since 1939 for tours of unusual geological formations & occasional live concerts.

Slide 1 of 3

Great outing! Easy access cave with many rooms , one more beautiful than the other. We highly recommend the guided your -ask for the tour with Catherine as your guide— she is a biology college student and loves the cave and what she does. She even took a black light flashlight to show the different colors under black light - is a great idea and a different take on caves. Not one of the massive caves, but absolutely worth it!

First time visiting and first time ever visiting a cave. It was such a wonderful experience! I forgot the guy’s name that was our tour guide but he was so nice and very informative. He mentioned he’s a senior in high school! Kudos to you for all that you shared with us! I brought a jacket because it was communicated it would be about 66 degrees down there and I get cold easily. But it really doesn’t feel like 66. It was quite humid. I say that say you probably don’t need a jacket. Def wear walking shoes and bring a water bottle if you tend to get thirsty easily. The duration of the tour was nice, walking and listening to the history of the cave and stopping for pictures! Highly recommend checking this place out!

Caroline was a fantastic guide and did a great job of explaining formations and the history behind this cave. Her black-light demonstration was especially fun. Cave Without A Name is a good choice for first time cavern visitors and those with younger children. There is an 8 story climb out of the cave but not much walking or navigating tricky terrain when in the cave.

The location is very nice and the mall is really well done. Large, clean, beautifully decorated outside with a lot of trees and places to sit and enjoy the area. Almost all brands exist there...and it's a friendly environment, even if it's sometimes a lot busy.

Beautiful outdoor shopping experience. Winding walkways with water intertwined. Pets are allowed with a Leash. Casual and very relaxing. You will find eating establishments of your choice! Enjoy...

This is one of the best malls San Antonio has to offer. Now I realize it's perhaps not a mall in the real sense but folk see it as La Cantera Mall. It's a wonderful mall to go a get some great walking exercise outdoors while you shop. It also has some decent night life appeal.

Review: "The waterfalls and cliffs surrounding the place add to the scenery.". There are no offers available. Near Six Flags Fiesta Texas:

Another theme park, and another fantastic time. I would say that this park had much more intense rides then some of the other parks I've been to, but honestly, for me, that made it a lot more fun! We happened to come here on senior trip day, which made for some long lines, but I feel that on a normal weekday it might not be quite as packed. Throughout the day rides came online while others went offline, however even with that we were able to still get to all the rides we wanted to ride! A few rides were closed in general because of the new ride they are putting in called Cliffhanger I belive. Due to the construction the rides closest to this one were taken offline for safety. It does appear however that that ride and the surrounding ones should open again by summer of 2022. All in all a good fun, family friendly park, with something for everyone.

Great amusement park to spend a nice day with family or friends. There are attractions for all ages and plenty of other activities to enjoy. You can also find many options for food. I would definitely recommend to purchase the flash pass it helps a lot if you want to enjoy all the rides. The parking lot is pretty big as well.

We're members and it's the only way to go - saves money, discounts on food and merchandise. Rides are good and staff is friendly, but the park cleanliness, food and overall upkeep is rough. Paid $20 for food that tasted like cafeteria leftovers, tables and chairs all dirty, trash all over the park. But, if you can look past that and just enjoy the rides (and set your concession expectations low) you'll have a fun time.

Guadalupe River State Park

State Parks

Natural area for canoeing, hiking, camping, fishing & horseback riding along 4 miles of river.

Slide 1 of 3

This campground is pretty awesome. Some sites are more secluded than others. There are a variety of trails, quite a few on the north side of the river. We discovered some hidden gem scenery areas on this trip. The park and river are pretty clean as well, which was something we found off putting at McKinney Falls. The day use area is also quite nice. While there was the occasional jet overflight, there was no external traffic noise, just the noise of cars entering the park. We went during the week, so there weren't a lot of people... Perfect for getting your Zen on.

Being from the Houston area, it's nice to see some elevation change that the Hill Country has to offer. The Guadalupe River State Park offers some excellent hiking trails, seating areas, barbecue pits, nice views, and surprisingly clean bathroom facilities. You can definitely tell that the park is well kept. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a walk along the bank of the river and took in how nice the water looked. At one point, the water was shallow enough for us to cross to take some photos upstream.

Great place to take the family for a day or weekend to go camping. Had a beautiful area with over 40 picnic tables and a grill for each table, super inviting looks super beautiful fishing everywhere the river was stocked last week with trout last week the lady said. No fishing pass needed. DONT BUY A FISHING PASS YOU DONT NEED ONE TO FISH. Definitely bringing my guests to Texas here. Mountain biking, kayaking, swimming. Great employees!

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park Visitor Center and Park Headquarters

National park

Sights & Landmarks

Public site featuring galleries with historic items & timelines from the 36th President's life.

Slide 1 of 3

Our family stayed in the Hill Country for Spring Break, and one of our day trips was to learn about LBJ, our 36th President of the United States, by going first to his boyhood home in Johnson City and then going to the LBJ Ranch. It's helpful to start one's trip first at the LBJ National Historical Park Visitor Center in Johnson City, view its exhibits and introductory movie upon request that summarize the President's humble beginnings and rise into politics, first as US Representative and then Senator, Senate Majority Leader, Vice President, and President of the United States. The exhibits and movie tell about his "Great Society" domestic accomplishments on civil rights, health care, and welfare as well as his presidency tainted by race riots and poor public opinion on escalating American involvement in the Vietnam War. We timed our morning visit with the ranger talk at the boyhood home. Afterwards, go to the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall by first going to the LBJ State Park and Historic Site Visitor Center to pick up a free driving permit and self-guided tour map of the ranch run by the National Park Service. Driving around the ranch, one gets to see LBJ's famous Hereford cattle roaming the grounds and baby calf in the show barn. Final stop is the Airport Hanger Visitor Center, where one gets to view the Lockheed Jetstar Air Force One-Half, LBJ's car collection, and grounds of the Texas White House. We timed our afternoon visit with the ranger talk at the Texas White House. Even though LBJ's boyhood home and Texas White House are closed under renovation, we had a great time learning from the ranger talks and were able to walk around surrounding grounds. Virtual tours are also available online and in the Johnson City Visitor Center.

Lots of information and exhibits from the state park (visit this location first to obtain ranch driving pass) as well as the national park at two sites. Hoping that the Texas White House will reopen upon structural repairs.

Beautiful grounds. Very nice historical artifacts and buildings throughout the Settlement Trail. Really enjoyed our visit.

Great piece of history! The staff were very polite and friendly. They had a tremendous amount ok knowledge about the place and it was just a neat experience.

He was a horrible man and a horrible president. Not sure why Texas pays so much tribute to a far left progressive like LBJ. His home should be bulldozed and everything that bears his name should be renamed.

A definite worthwhile experience, Lonnie our volunteer tour guide was excellent!!!! Johnson City is a cute little town with several nice shops and restaurants

Slide 1 of 3

Never been to a rodeo before! It was so fun. I loved the mutton busting, it was funny and cute. It was all really exciting. I also loved when the longhorns came into the arena. So cool to see. Then topping off the night was the band and the dancing afterwards. I highly recommend this if you think you would like to see a rodeo.

This capped off our Texas trip, was really fun. Definitely a family event. I know it may be some small details or not being from the area. I would say 2 things to improve guest experience. #1 maybe with your ticket reservation and or under the FAQs make a what to expect page. Explain that March nights get cold quick at times and that last 8 to 9 hour on metal seats is a killer. A heads up email to bring a blanket or a extra layer would be great (we had blankets and dressed appropriately, I just noticed people and families tapping out every 5 minutes as the night went on. #2 I know it may be atmosphere for the seating, however making some sort of lane to walk up and down for people trying to get to a seat or leave would be nice. I did see some older people struggling trying to weave through the crowd. And yes everyone helped and was polite but little tweaks can improve the flow. Was a fun end to a great week in Texas

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Texas. We ate at the steak house first (need reservations) and the food was great and the beers were cold! We loved the rodeo and the great patriot and feeling of family at this place. There was a live band and dancing after the rodeo which was icing on the cake. Do not miss stopping here for a fantastic evening.

Blanco State Park

Lively destination for swimming, boating, hiking, camping & nature study on 106 acres.

Slide 1 of 3

Smallest state park I have been to so far, but one of the cleanest and it is a very well kept park. Beautiful water, no pollution...you can see the fish and snakes swimming below the surface in the Blanco river.

Visited October 22 - 24, 2021 A small park with the Blanco river flowing through the middle. Looks like a great spot to kayak or canoe. Unfortunately we were unable to bring our kayaks, so we are going to have to visit another time. Plenty of space at campsites. And bathrooms were clean without any smell.

We had a great time here. The only thing that is a little strange is its really close to town, but when you are in the state park it feels like you are far out of town! Lots of nice tent camping spots.

Love the atmosphere of this place! My boyfriend and I stopped by on a weekend trip to canyon lake in October and had a wonderful time. Would definitely be hot during the summer, as it was all outside, but was pleasant the time we went. Everybody was very friendly and the owners loved to share the history of their wines, which I loved! There was also a brick oven pizza place there for the day; pizza was amazing! Would love to visit again if back in town!

We are back! Missed a year due to COVID-19 onset last year! Wine stile good, atmosphere still great, and service still superb! Added a food truck on Sundays! Awesome tasting BBQ! Can’t beat this! Get there early before 3pm on Sunday for wine tasting! Great wine and easy going vibe! Love this get away from Houston!

Best vineyard I have ever been to! The service was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about each wine we tasted. I am typically not a fan of red wine (prefer sweeter wines) but all of their reds were incredible and smooth. They change out their wines often so there is always something new. We will definitely be going back!

Had a wonderful experience with the staff here and where really friendly. Our boat was amazing just note they have red zones marked DO NOT GO THERE. Austin, Westin, and the deck hand on the 23rd where very helpful with anything we needed. 12/10 stars highly recommend you come here to rent. Nice boats and nice facility. BOOK HERE!!!!

The entire team from the boat repair shop to the ship store are absolutely amazing! We have had two major repairs / upgrades completed on our boat over the past 5 months. Mike and his crew up in the shop were fantastic! The Ship Store staff and management are also fantastic. This place is our home away from home enjoying our boat on the weekends. Highly recommend!

Excellent experience and exceptional service. 100% recommended!! The boats are in great condition
