How do i activate my at&t iphone

When you order devices from an Essentials reseller, the reseller assigns the IMEI or serial number of specific devices to your organization. Assigned devices are listed in the Essentials portal as Ready to set up until they're activated with Essentials. To activate a device:

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. When prompted, connect the device to a network.

The device is now activated and Essentials security requirements are automatically enforced.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

After a device is activated, you can use the Essentials portal to:

  • Assign a new name to the device to make it easier to identify.
  • Reset the screen lock or wipe the device at any time.

How can we improve it?

I can't activate my SIM card

You may be experiencing any of these issues:

  • Unable to activate the phone while on an LTE network
  • Error message “Your activation could not be completed…” followed by a generic LTE connection failure error
  • Error code: 1012 during Hands Free Activation
  • The SIM card is not recognized by your phone

Ensuring the SIM card is properly mounted in the phone, can solve some SIM activation issues.

During the initial setup, it is best to connect to a Wi-Fi network before starting the activation process.

  • If a Wi-Fi network is not available, navigate to Settings > Mobile data > Network mode and select CDMA Only. This will allow the phone to complete the activation process.
  • If the phone is still unable to activate, you may perform a manual activation using the code ##RTN#, entered in the dialer. Contact your network provider for this code.

Sometimes the phone does not connect properly to the mobile network service or network-specific apps after initial setup. Follow these steps to make the connection:

  1. Eject the SIM card from the device and record the SIM ID. Contact your network service provider and make sure the SIM ID on the card matches the SIM ID in your account with the service provider.
  2. Insert the SIM after your account has been updated.
  3. Restart your phone again and allow the activation process to complete fully.

A factory data reset can also resolve some SIM activation issues. See How to factory reset a device.
