5.0 out of 5 stars My son LOVES Beatbo!
Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2018

FTM and i got beatbo for my six month old son (half birthday gift lol). He LOVES beatbo and is always entertained by him. Best purchase i’ve made. The lights seemed a little too bright for a baby in my opinion but i love all the songs and music. His wiggling is a little noisy but not enough for me to say i wouldn’t purchase this again! I think he’s definitely worth the buy! So much fun! I also love the recording feature and my husband and i have fun with it ;)

My son loves collecting robots and really has been wanting another one of these Beatbo fisher price toys. He had one when he was a baby but that was years ago and lost. We bought another through a private seller who claimed it was in great condition/like needs a

My kid was already a dancing machine but he has got some SICK moves now, thanks to disco-tech machine! I lucked out and got this at a great price before it became a popular holiday gift item but I am sure it is worth whatever the price is even now. The colors that light up when the toy is activated offer a great visual stimulation and they appear to be programmed to go along with the music instead of just at random. I appreciate the detail in that feature. I was born with two left feet but I don't think my boy has any reason to be shy about his footwork the way he moves to the music of this toy. The music is fast but my child has picked up the instructional portions of the songs rather quickly so it must feel pretty natural. The educational aspect of the toy is also prevalent and done in a very enjoyable, teachable method. If I had to choose one negative about the toy, it would be the placement of the buttons. My son is 16 months and for some reason his favorite button to push is the voice recording one. It is a really cool option on the toy but for a child that doesn't say a lot and doesn't really have the comprehension to understand the function, he ends up dancing to just an instrumental beat most of the time. I am sure he is drawn to the button because it is so big (technically second largest after the tummy button) but it would be nice if this option on the toy didn't feel so easily accessible. My opinion would be to swap it with the functions of pressing the tummy button since my child neglects it most of the time because it isn't an obvious option at his age.

I just purchased this item for my 8 month old baby. She had her interest held for about five minutes at a time, and actually tried pushing some of the buttons herself.
Pros:
It comes with the batteries required to operate.
The lights in the robot's belly are bright and entertaining to the baby.
It has educational value with the Alphabet song, counting songs, and a freeze song. Also when the baby gets a bit older there are dance moves (mostly stuff like, clap your hands, jump up and down, twist back and forth) that your child can follow.
It's completely adorable.
It seems pretty tough: my daughter picked it up and beat on it while trying to play, and the robot kept right on dancing.

Cons (none of these are too awful):
The Beatbo movement is very loud while he's "dancing" so if you have the robot on the low volume setting it's hard to hear over the head and body swaying back and forth. However, the loud setting is almost too loud and I could see Beatbo getting obnoxious with prolonged use at the higher volume level. I wish there was a medium volume level.

Recording your own audio for the remix is fun and funny, but my husband and I both wish you had a bit more time to record your message (three seconds isn't enough, and we keep seeming to get cut off when the light is still red for record).

The beat Bo was as described in perfect condition packed very well and the price was quite reasonable as it’s a retired toy. I’d love to thank the seller. My 9 month old great granddaughter absolutely loves it. Thanks so much and Happy New Year

Our baby got this at around 6 months old, and she liked it immediately. She's now 8 months old, and she'll stare and stare at BeatBo until we get him off the shelf. The lights on the belly are very cool, he sings several fun songs that she likes. He seems pretty well made and solid, the parts are well attached. He's easy to clean, and we're still on the first set of batteries, so he didn't chew through them in about a month and a half of practically daily use.

I did read other comments that mention the mechanical noise he makes when he moves, and I have to agree, it is annoying. It doesn't overwhelm the music when you have it on the louder of the two volume settings, but it probably would on the softer setting. My only other small complaint is that BeatBo is not really designed to be handled. Our girl is just getting to the point that she doesn't just want to watch him, but rather play with him while he's activated, but she either just knocks him over or holds his head making his gears grind while he's trying to dance. I realize that he wasn't designed to be handled, but since he's so interesting and animated, of course the baby wants to touch him and chew on him.

It’s not just another electronic toy, it’s actually very good for kids brain stimulation. I really recommend it!

Saw this item in Parent's Magazine as an award winning toy, and decided to give it a try for our granddaughter's first birthday because she loves to dance and bounce with anything musical. This toy is so charming that even Grandpa (who does not dance) is dancing with the granddaughter to the Beats Bo toy. The light up belly, head that slides side to side and voice which is upbeat gets your attention. Our granddaughter likes it so much, she carries it around like a doll. It is heavy though, and I'm concerned she will drop it on her feet and get hurt. It has push buttons on both feet. On the left, two buttons (yellow and orange) are for prerecorded alphabet and numbers songs. On the right, the button (red) is for recording something and the Beat Bo will sing it back to you. Unfortunately, our granddaughter is most attracted to the red button which waits for you for say something. It would be better if you have to press the belly to record something and the foot buttons were for prerecorded songs. Overall, this toy is a bit hit with all ages, young to elderly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warning!! Songs will get stuck in your head!!

Warning!! The beatbo songs are super catchy and get stuck in your head and you end up mindlessly singing them ...... rainbow colour song is a major culprit! Haha

- very entertaining
- Heavy and sturdy , doesn’t fall over easily and seems durable
- Batteries that come with it have lasted ages and still going strong!
- Two sound levels
- Lots of songs and dances
- Very bright and colourful lights
- easy press buttons for children , even my 4 month old can manage to whack it!

This is an amazingly entertaining toy, if not for the kids then the adults! Leaving random recordings on it and then beatbo will put it in a re-mix! Highly entertaining!

I love this particular one as the light up colour square on his chest is so big, my little boy loves colours and this is very eye catching for him or an amazing light show in the dark! It is also another press button so he does more little songs and dances if you press the chest in.

Only negative I have is the mechanical sound it makes when moving , the higher volume level drowns it out so it’s noting major! Tried to capture this in a video for the review.

Would recommend as it’s a great play toy and learning toy all in one.
Quite impressive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, fun and great value for money

What a HUGE HIT this fantastic robot has been! Bought it as a 2nd birthday gift for my little grandson, and he is absolutely thrilled with it. It is much bigger than I expected (about 30cm tall) and very colorful and eye-catching. And it is really versatile, with lots of different functions to explore depending on the age of your child: from simply dancing and singing songs to interactive games. My grandson’s favorite so far is the voice recorder: ‘When my tummy turns red, say something and I’ll say it back to you.’ This has brought endless fun and hilarity. His brother, who’s just turned three, loves the musical statues game: ‘When the music stops, freeze!’

In terms of quality, the robot seems to be pretty sturdy. It’s taken quite a few knocks in all the excitement, but absorbed them all damage free.

I did swither about the cost before buying it, but now that I’ve seen all it can do, I think it’s excellent value for money. It’s definitely a toy that children would enjoy playing with for more than just a short time—age range 18 months to 4 years, I’d say.

Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful. Check out my profile page for more reviews of toddler books and puzzles and educational toys and games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does a lot of things and will grow with your child

We brought this toy for our 9 month old son as an interactive toy. It does not disappoint and will grow with your baby.
THE GOOD
1. Very sturdy and I do not see it breaking with normal falls
2. Most of the area is plastic. Only the ears and hands need cleaning from time to time so very easy to maintain
3. The battery lasts ages. I have had it for 5 months now and have not changed the batteries once
4. The sound quality is brilliant and not the tin robotic sounds you find in other toys
5. The best feature is when you touch its tummy and it asks you to say something. It repeats it back with dancing and music which the kids really enjoy
THE NOT SO GOOD
1. It only has once dance move. Would have been better to add in a couple more
2. Like other toys, stages or age control switches might have been better. I don’t see babies using most of its features as they won’t get it. Older kids (2-3) year old might gain and enjoy it more
Brilliant product and well done fisher price on another gem.

Bought this for an Easter present for my boy and Absolutely love it.... I've been having soo much fun with the voice recorder, never mind my son!!! My son loves watching the colours of the lights and the dancing and I'm sure he will be dancing along with it in time to come (he's only 7 months at the moment )
It's Decent quality and it's nice that it has a quieter option on it. The only negative thing I have to say it is a little heavier then I thought it would be, but other then that it's great fun.... Great movement, sounds, lights, and great for learning!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't a favourite

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 20, 2020

I'm just about to discard this from the toybox. In hindsight it was very rarely played with. I have 2 boys and both didnt bother with it. I dont think its versatile enough. It plays a few short songs and mechanically 'dances' from side to side. I think kids generally prefer toys that they can imagine creating a story through. This is why they often play with the box rather than the toy in it. I found they also do like toys with some sort of puzzle element. They liked the picnic basket from Fisher Price for example.
If I was a kid I wouldnt want to play with this. It may entertain a baby under 1 but I would absolutely not buy it for a 2 year old say. Some kids that really love music and dancing might like it. Could be an expensive mistake though. It is well made however and has stood the test of time.
