I’m getting new tires installed either tomorrow or the next day at Costco, but they don’t do alignments, which I know you should do after getting new tires. Does that really need to be done immediately or can it wait a week? My state does vehicle inspections and mine is due in January, so it’d make my life easier if I could do both tasks in one trip next week. But I don’t want to wait if it needs to be done immediately.

It all depends on what the old tire wear looks like. Take pictures of each tire and post them on here tomorrow and we can help. Frankly I see no reason for another alignment of the tires coming off have standard wear patterns.

You don't need to get an alignment after getting new tires. Signs you need an alignment would be if the tires you are replacing wore out unevenly. If you do need one, a week of driving will make no negative impact. Any alignment shop will be able to give you an evaluation if you need an alignment. Ask them for a print out of the current alignment and they will be able to help you determine if its worth spending the money (figure about $100 or more).

It really depends how bad your current alignment is. It can wait a week, but if you're toe is really off, it's definitely not ideal. If the alignment isn't far off, it should be fine. Are your current tires that you're replacing wearing evenly?

They’re not even, but they’re not wildly off. Like a 1/32 difference between outer and inner.

You don't need an alignment after it's done especially if old tire wear looks fine. Doesn't hurt to check but that's an extra $100 give or take in your pocket

I would never ever buy new tires and not get an alignment, I feel it's a waste if you don't.

I don't know how people aren't getting super long life out of their tires because all I do is rotate them every so often, check the pressure once in a while, alignment maybe once every 2 years and I get more life out of tires than anyone I know.

People need to be really over the top lazy to need new tires on a Civic for example every 20k.

I get an alignment when I need an alignment, and that is before I would ever need tires. One of my hard no’s for a used car, private owner. If you can’t take care of that then nothing else would have ever been done. I just got four new tires, no need to do an alignment.

It can wait a week, shouldn't cause any issues unless you think your alignment is very messed up.
