How do you use a 3 point hay spear?To use it properly, raise the 3-point hitch so the primary tine is level with the ground, and insert the primary tine above the center point of the bale. Because you can't tilt the 3-point hitch, it's important to spear large round bales a bit higher above the center point than you would with a loader mount bale spear.
How long of a hay spear do I need?What kind and size of spear do I need to buy? If you are putting up 4X4', 4X5', or 4X6' round hay bales, we recommend 43”-49” length. The key to it is, for easy removal, you never want more than 85% of the spear thru the bale.
How far apart should bale spears be?136 lbs. FLBS-330 Loader bale spear rated at 3,000 lbs. for handling mid-size square bales. Triple spears have usable length of 26", spaced 26-1/2" apart.
How long should a bale spear be?The 49-inch spear is a standard for handling large round and square bales. If you plan to handle 3X3X8 bales exclusively, you can use a 39-inch spear.
