Can i drive with a nail in my tire reddit

Drove home a bit earlier, and the TPMS beeped at me to check tyre pressures.

Turns out I have a nail in the tyre, although it's still fully inflated. The last time this happened, I drove to the local garage that specialises in just tyres and they were like noppeeee, can't fix that you need a new one. I'm fairly sure they just want you to buy a new one. Spoke to a mate who's a petrolhead and he talked about "plug kits" that you can fix it yourself is this something I could realistically do myself with zero experience?

So what do I do ? Yes I have a spare, but it's also low on tread, because i'm a cheapskate and instead of replacing the tyre last time I just swapped for the spare. Pretty sure I'm going to have to bite the bullet here and get a new one, but why are they supposedly un-repairable?

obviously it's not in the tyre wall. I also need to go drive tomorrow, pull it out or leave it in ?

Picture here https://i.imgur.com/QB9vRsc.jpg so tyre experts can tell me if this should be repairable or not. This tyre is litereally 6 months old and has done less than 300 miles.

For the past two weeks, my front passenger side tire has been losing air slowly each day.

I've been going to a gas station about once every two days to fill it up with air. I just thought I had damaged my wheels somehow but today, I finally found the nail that's been causing me the trouble.

Since it's slowly losing air, can I just keep the nail plugged in the tire or should I take it to a shop? I'm a broke college student so spending any money at all would leave me very poor.

What do you guys think? Should I leave it in there or should I eat ramen for a week or two and take it to a shop?

Thanks guys.

Can i drive with a nail in my tire reddit

UPDATE: I'm a dumbass. It was literally a rock. Managed to stay there in the rubber for at least 20 miles of mixed driving

Here are a couple pictures of the tire in question. I'm assuming this isn't a fixable location, but wanted to get others input. Thanks!

Edit: tires are Pilot Sport 4s if that matters at all

Can you still drive with a nail in tire?

The short answer is yes, you can drive with a nail in your tire. Drivers cruise over nails all the time and don't realize it. Nails can lodge in a tire so tightly that air isn't able to escape; the car hits the nail so fast and so hard that air is never given the opportunity to release.

How long can I drive with a nail in my run flat tire?

Bridgestone run-flat tires will allow continued operation even after a loss of some or all inflation pressure for up to 50 miles (80 km) at a maximum speed up to 50 mph (80 km/h.)

Should you put air in a tire with a nail in it?

The best possible solution is to bring your vehicle to an expert for patching service. A professional can quickly find the puncture, remove the nail/screw, patch your tire, and refill your tire with air.
