A Haunt is a scenario within the game. There are 101 haunts within the game-50 from the base game, 51 from the expansion- each triggered by specific combinations of omens and rooms. The haunt scenarios detail the second half of game play and outline what the heroes and traitor must do to win the game.

Before the haunt starts, you must roll 6 dice at the end of your turn each time you draw an omen card. This is called a haunt roll. If you roll less than the total number of omen cards all players have drawn this game, the haunt starts. The player who starts the haunt with this roll is called the haunt revealer.

How do you find the traitor in Betrayal at House on the Hill?

If one or more players could be the traitor, it's decided in one of two ways. If one of the possible traitors is the haunt revealer, then they are the traitor. If not, it's the player closest to the haunt revealer's left. Whichever player is the traitor must take the Traitor's Tome and leave the room.
