This hitch looks like it belongs there, unlike the after market options. Very good quality and fairly easy to install. The are 2 plastic push tabs holding the lower bumper panel, I was afraid to break them but using a screw driver you can pull the center pin which opens the tab and allows removal, I have included the photo which hopefully will help others.

The Hitch fit was very good except I order the wrong year according to the dealer. He was very helpful to make things right.

This went on super easy. No directions included, however I printed off Honda’s install instructions from their accessories estore. Quick google search for it.

You’ll need to use the factory tire iron to lower the spare tire. When you remove the hidden cargo area’s cover, look to the left and you’ll see a plastic panel that you can pop out to access the tire iron and jack. Use the square end to drop the tire.

I completed this in about an hour...but that was with really taking my time to not damage the plastic clips off of the current bumper when removing and installing the new panel. Look at the new panel - you’ll need to bend those six tabs down with a small flathead screw driver. They’re attached to the old panel, so don’t worry about bending them. Afterwards the old panel will pop out. These small tabs have a down arrow in the directions.

You’ll need a second set of hands to hold the receiver up to the frame while you bolt it in.... keep it held there until you get the six bolts in so you don’t rip off the new plastic bumper insert.

Also the directions called for a 10mm, 19mm and 21mm sockets. I didn’t use the 21mm for anything. I actually used an 18mm socket on a 1/2 inch drive wrench for the six main bolts. The 19mm was too loose. Keep that in mind if you have to run out and buy new sockets. Most smaller socket kits don’t have an 18 or 19mm socket.

Be sure to use a torque wrench and get the bolts down to 70ft/lbs. Also, the passenger side exhaust doesn’t leave much room for installing the most outward facing bolt. Do yourself a favor and take that side if you are having a less than mechanically inclined neighbor help you hold it up.

The price was within $20 on the cheapest online store after shipping. I deferred to Amazon Prime here because I know they’d make it right if a part was missing or messed up in shipping.

2016 Honda Pilot. Fits perfectly. Seems like I searched and search and the reviews of the other products didn’t give me a lot of confidence buying. I didn’t want the hitch the hung below the bumper like on my CRV. Newer car, I wanted in looking like it came from the factory with the hitch. This product fit that requirements for me. Is never installed a hitch before but it was fairly easy. The nutplates on my vehicle had some corrosion. An appropriate sized tap may have been a good idea but I didn’t have on. I resorted to oiling the bolt wrenching it into the nutplates prior to even installing the hitch. It took awhile running it in and out of the nutplates but it was time well spent. I believe that saved me stress and overall time for my install. I did not do the electrical install since I will only be using the hitch for a bike rack so I have no recommendations for that. Sorrylk

I had it installed for me but seemed very easy… it is sturdy and I like the fact that there are plugs to insert if you remove the hitch, in same finish as the car
Glad I went with the Honda made bike rack !

Got this for a 2017 Pilot that we bought in July. We did not want to pay the exorbitant dealer price and installation fees to have it put on from the start. The directions are pretty clear and are available to view beforehand at the Honda eStore site. After looking at the directions intently for a couple of days, I decided this was a better solution than the aftermarket solutions, that puts the hitch opening below the bumper rather than integrating it into the bumper. It's just a trashy look to it. Total time to install this and the OEM wiring harness was two hours, which had me being methodical in every step (it could easily be done in 60 minutes in a pinch). It integrates with the OEM trailer harness that we purchased from Amazon as well. It looks exactly like it would have if the dealer installed it, without the extra $500 in installation costs. This made it a no-brainer for us. Sorry dealer, you can get some other sucker to pad your bottom line, it won't be coming from me.

Some people said that you don't have remove the spare tire. I had to on my 2016 Pilot EX-L .... it took 2 minutes to remove. Installed the bezel first then hitch. I suggest a helping hand because the hitch does stick through the bezel and if you happen to drop it I think it would break the new trim bezel.
It comes with:
1. Trim Bezel
2. Hitch
3. Bolts
4. Honda receiver plug
There was no directions in the box. A quick YouTube video is were I got directions.
Tip: If your installing the OEM 08L91-TG7-101 wiring harness you need to install it in the hitch before mounting it. The harness slides in from the top of the hitch and when it is mounted the vehicle your unable to slide it into the mounting grove.

Called the local dealership and it was going to cost about $100 more and that doesn't include installation. Many youtube videos showing how to do it. You do need one person to assist but I was under the car by myself and had very little issues. The hardest part was actually removing the old bumper insert and replacing it with the new one which you need to do first before installing the hitch. Overall, it looks great and probably saved hundreds doing it myself!

Super easy to install - ~1hr start to finish working alone.

Some reviewers complained about loose fit of the Honda cap and worried it will fall off. See pics for an easy fix. Using picture hanging wire, make a loop. Puncture a hole in the cap with a small screwdriver and feed the 2 ends through. Tie the two ends together around something that would stop the ends from slipping out. Twist the two strands together until a small loop remains at the opposite end from the cap. Put a medium sized key ring through the loop and attach to the bar below the hitch. The cap will not fly away even if it slips out of the hitch. A nice bonus is that you will not loose it even when using a hitch for towing - it is always attached, ready to be replaced back.
