Trying to replace this solenoid. We managed to get the pin out after inadvertently breaking off the top of the original solenoid. But now we are at a loss as to how to get the pin installed with the new solenoid.

Hopefully the pics will illustrate our dilemma.

Is there a special tool? Does the 'front' part have to be removed?

We'd appreciate any help. Let me know if you need better pics.

I'm seeing lots of views, but no replies . . . is this not something that anyone has done before? Am I not providing enough information? I found a faulty pressure control solenoid to be a common problem on this model of Buick LaSabre.

I will kick it off by suggesting that you put the pin in the same way it was supposed to come out. It looks like it would just slide back in.

also, how hard is it to get access to them. I have read up on this procedure and my 227k mile lesabre needs them replaced

Please don't take offense that folks look, but don't reply. You want/need actual, factual help, and after reading your post most of us (me, for sure) would not have been helpful in posting wild-assed guesses when they had no actual clue ☺

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnVV6Zwnoak, this i think is what will have to come out to get to the clip. Starting at the 1 minute mark. The black solenoid in your transmission pic is the pressure control solenoid, the individual solenoid in the pic of the replacement part looks like the tcc pwm solenoid. I think you have to remove the fluid pump to get at the clip for it. Once the pump comes out you should have open access to the clip. The rest of the video you can ignore but it looks like taking the pump out will give you the access you need. You will also have to beware of the four ballbearing check valves {i think it's 4}, they will probably fall out, and need to be put back in the right spots. Not sure where that would be but i'm sure we could figure it out if need be.

Hello again - hoping to revive some experience and and help for a new problem that came up this weekend for our car.

We did the fix - replaced the Pressure Control Solenoid with the very helpful videos.

And everything worked great until . . . about 150 miles later, all of a sudden I started hearing a very severe “thumping/grinding” noise coming from the transmission area, rendering the car basically undrivable. Getting several ‘'engine alert lights” and a code of PO 300 from CarMed tester. This problem just came up all at once with no pre-warning from driving. Any ideas if we could have messed something up during the PCS replacement? Could the Torque-Converter possibly be a suspect? Any help on the diagnosis would be most appreciated. Car is a 2000 Buick Lesabre 3.8eng with approx. 150,000 miles.

P0300 is a code for random misfire. I don't see how a transmission repair would cause this This is one of the hardest to diagnose, could be from plugs, wire, coil packs, ignition control module, crank sensor,cam sensor, clogged or faulty fuel injectors, clogged or partially clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pressure, bad fuel pressure regulator, loose or corroded connections or connectors, leaking vacuum lines and maybe a thing or two not mentioned above. The erratic transmission operation may or may not be related, if the engine isn't running properly i don't see how the transmission would if it's not receiving full power from the engine.

thanks again for your input - I guess we'll take it to an engine mechanic and see what they can find out. Just seems coincidental that this problem happened right after the transmission repair - but hoping they're not related.

just start with the simple stuff. obvious stuff like major vacuum leaks fuel pressure or ground connections etc.
