Even the most casual film fan knows that James Bond prefers one particular brand of car above all others: an Aston Martin brimming with gadgets.
So the decision by Rege-Jean Page, widely tipped to replace Daniel Craig as 007, to star in an advert for the rival Audi marque might cause a bit of a stir in Q Branch.
Dressed in matching navy-blue trousers and jacket, the actor, who shot to prominence last year as the Duke of Hastings in the Netflix period drama Bridgerton, was pictured next to one of the company's £40,000-plus Q4 e-tron cars.

The Audi deal is thought to be the 31-year-old's first endorsement project since he was catapulted to fame, thanks largely to a series of steamy love scenes with his Bridgerton co-star Phoebe Dynevor.
As the face of Audi's fully electric new model, the actor has already featured in an achingly woke promotional film entitled A Story Of Progress.

During the two-and-a-half-minute clip, he doesn't mention the name 'Audi' but instead appeals to viewers to improve themselves.
'There is an element of the work I do that feels like a constant love letter to the people that I see in the world,' he says in sentiments rather unlikely to be uttered by James Bond.
'That's the thing that inspires me most – it's finding people who have a story to be told. And thinking how can I contribute to that?'
If Bridgerton's dashing duke Rege-Jean Page is the next James Bond, where's his Aston Martin?
Bridgerton leading man Regé-Jean Page and actress Olivia Wilde are among the celebs featuring in a new campaign for Audi Q4 e-tron models.
Audi and socially-led creative agency We Are Social Germany are hosting the world premiere of the new fully electric Audi Q4 e-tron models with the campaign “A Story of Progress”.
The campaign has been produced for social media and digital channels.
Audi, Page and progress
In seven video interviews, protagonists address the question of what their story of progress is, as well as what progress and future orientation means for them.
Each episode focuses on like-minded people, including Olivia Wilde (actress, producer, activist) and Regé-Jean Page (actor (“Bridgerton”/Netflix), who tell their inspiring stories about their own achievements and progress in life.
The films also feature: Malaika Mihambo (current world champion in long jump), Stephanie Gilmore (seven-time world champion in surfing), Anna Gasser (world champion freestyle snowboarding, Olympic gold medal winner), César Muntada (Head of Light Design, AUDI AG) and Fermín Soneira Santos (Head of Product Line e-tron, AUDI AG).
Each protagonist authentically represents the mindset and attitude of the Audi brand.
Christian Jasper, Creative Director We Are Social Germany, said: “’What’s your story of progress?’” is not a marketing phrase.
“It is a motivating and important question for the community and for Audi – to challenge ourselves, to get excited about new things and to shape the future together – maybe even to write history.
“In “A Story of Progress” we celebrate the drive and incentive to take your future into your own hands.
“We not only demonstrate this in our various stories of progress, but also in the way we communicate to our premium Audi customers of today and in the future.”
COVID-19 rules in production
The entire production and post-production was carried out by We Are Social Studios Germany.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and the associated strict requirements and safety regulations for productions, three out of seven episodes were produced with the support of We Are Social’s global network.
Every episode was remotely directed in Munich.
The “Stories of Progress” started with Season 1 in the run-up to the world premiere of the Audi e-tron GT models in January 2021.
The video contributions were successfully broadcast globally on Audi’s social media and digital channels. The content focus was on redefining progress.
Various protagonists such as Tom Hardy (actor), Janelle Monaé (artist), Marc Lichte (Head of Design AUDI AG) and Nico Rosberg (Formula 1 World Champion) explain in the video contributions how they personally define progress for themselves.
