2016 Colorado.
Yesterday I noticed there was no locking latch on my sliding rear window. It was just gone. Only a flat metal spring was left there. When I touched it, the spring fell out.
I found the spring and the latch in-between the seats.
I put it back together, but that latch is so flimsy and cheap. It's made of soft plastic and attaches with two hinge tabs. Ridiculously and shockingly flimsy.
This thing just fell out on it's own and I hardly ever open that window. I think I've opened it maybe three times in three years.

I bet someone on the outside of the truck could just press their hand on the glass and push the window open. That latch will just pop off....no doubt.

I went out and checked by 2017 and it sure seems pretty solid to me. Not that someone couldn't force it to move, but it does not appear to be flimsy. It might be worth checking to see if there was a TSB on it or even a recall as a potential safety item.

Perhaps someone tried breaking into your truck? Mine is solid, but now I will keep an eye on it for sure.

When I reinstalled the latch, it was way too easy to squeeze it back into place. I would have been more comfortable if it was tighter and there was a snap when it went into place. This thing should be metal, not plastic. The part that remained on the window that the latch attaches to is also plastic and seems flimsy as well.

I don't think there was an attempted break in because my tonneau cover is there and it would be hard to reach.

My 2019 is exactly the same way. The first time I tried to open it, it came right off in my hand.

Haven't opened it since. I was hoping it was just misaligned from the factory. Had a few instances of stuff like that with my Canyon.

Right now I'm glad my truck didn't have a rear slider.

OP; Take the truck to dealer and show service mgr...maybe they'll throw you a bone & install replacement...??

Next time I'm at the dealer I will show them.
But I don't think replacing it would cure the problem. It will just be the same flimsy junk. I was hoping a newer truck would have a better one, but member tomtheengineer had his come off on his 2019.
The only thing I can think of is if I can find a better one off another model and hope it fits. I'll take a look at a Silverado, but it's probably going to be the same junk.

Our 2019 Canyon had the same issue, latch came apart. We've now been back to the dealer 4 times to try and get the latch repaired, it'a all been under warranty thankfully. Each time there is another reason why they can't fix it. Today they called and told us they are giving us a loaner car because they need to replace the entire window to fix that latch (there is not latch replacement part). In order to replace the window they are taking out our back seat and headliner! You have got to be kidding me!!!
Has anyone found a replacement latch?

I wouldn't argue that they may have to order the whole window to get the latch, but I would insist that they take the latch off the new window and use it to replace it old latch rather than replace the whole window (and risk damaging something else or causing a leak).

Well this discussion made me look at my sliding lock on my 2017 Colorado. I have no issue with my lock.

The little piece of plastic that pivots and travels with the slider and locks onto the fixed window came out. They are taking the back of our Canyon apart (removing seats and headliner) to replace the entire window.

Wow, I have not had any issues. I even sometimes slam the thing shut. That definitely sucks that it has gone wrong for you.

I think if mine ever broke I would look into a power sliding window.

Powr Slider would be great. I wonder how much install would be with wiring and switch? That would be a pricey luxury item!

I just wish the hell we could have the option of a solid glass rear window. With my 2019 crew cab Colorado you have to open the back door to open or close it, can't even come close to reaching it from drivers seat. For me a total waste.

Once you leave the Work Truck version. They come with the LT Convenience Package which is where the sliding rear window and electronic rear-window defogger comes.

I agree.

Somewhat related I finally saw my second Ranger today. The rear window opening on that is tiny. My 15 pound cat would have a hard time fitting through. I suspect even those who like opening rear windows wouldn't care for it.
