You can put your Honeywell T6 Z-Wave Thermostat in hold mode by choosing the desired temperature for the hold and then either setting the time for a temporary hold or setting a permanent hold. Please note that a hold can only be set if a temperature schedule for the T6 has been established.
When a schedule has been set up for a Honeywell Thermostat, the device will follow that schedule and adjust the temperature for the HVAC system accordingly. A hold tells the thermostat to ignore this schedule and instead keep the temperature held at a set level. By using the T6 Thermostat, a user can set a Temporary Hold (less than 12 hours, or until cancelled) or a Permanent Hold (indefinitely until cancelled). There is also a third type of hold called Vacation Hold, but this is only accessible through the Honeywell Home App.
It is only possible to set a hold if a schedule for the T6 Thermostat has been created. Without a schedule, there would be no scheduled temperature setting for the thermostat to resume when the hold has ended. So setting a hold without a scheduled temperature would just be the same as adjusting the temperature.Once the T6 is taken out of hold mode, the device will resume its regularly scheduled settings.
Note: If you pair the T6 Thermostat with a system that uses an interactive automation platform like TC2 or ADC, then you will no longer be able to set permanent holds locally at the thermostat.
Complete the following steps to put a Honeywell T6 Z-Wave Thermostat into hold mode and then take it out of hold mode:
1. Set the hold temperature. Adjust the temperature by using + and - keys, and stop when you reach the temperature that you want to use with the hold. The message "Hold Until" will appear. This indicates that the T6 is now in hold mode.
2. Adjust the hold period. Underneath the Hold Until message, a time will be displayed. This displayed time is when the temporary hold is scheduled to end. Press the Hold Until message, and the displayed time will start to blink. This means that you can now adjust the hold time. Adjust the hold time using the + and - keys. Press the Hold Until message to confirm the time. The displayed time will stop blinking, meaning that the hold time has been set.
To set a permanent hold, press the Hold Until message. To the left, a Permanent Hold button will appear. Press the Permanent Hold option. The hold adjustment screen will be exited, and the "Permanent Hold" message will remain on the screen. This indicates that the T6 is now in a permanent hold.
