Mother's Day Out

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Our teachers are dedicated to creating positive learning experiences for preschoolers eight weeks to two years of age. For details, call Mother’s Day Out Director Paula Lee at 903-831-6000, ext. 150.

Mother’s Day Out is an 10-month program with two sessions a week that offers: Christian teachers, developmentally appropriate curriculum, appropriate student/teacher ratio, positive learning environment, a discipline that encourages self-control, well-equipped facility, and inside and outside play areas. MDO operates Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., for children 8 weeks of age – 2 yrs old. Curriculum

At First Baptist Church Mother's Day Out program, we use Wee Learn Christian Curriculum which combines learning activities that are designed to lay a foundation for understanding God, Jesus, Bible, church, self, family, others and the natural world with age-appropriate academic concepts that not only help lay a solid academic foundation, but also help prepare the child for kindergarten.

Each of our classrooms incorporates books, music, learning centers, group activities, hands on learning and individual learning activities. In addition to both Christian and academic principles, we have a separate music time each week.

About us

Our goal is to provide a loving, safe, and Christian environment for each child, using positive discipline and positive reinforcement. We are also committed to preparing an interesting program consistent with the Daily Schedule.

Classes

6 weeks - Toddlers

These classes are guided by teachers with loving care. An activity is provided for parents to view so they may have first-hand knowledge of their child's experience each day.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM

*Lunches and drinks are to be sent from home*

2-year-olds - 5-year-olds

These classes follow a daily schedule which includes four activities, or centers, a circle time, outdoor play, music, art, and an ending activity. Children are encouraged to participate in the activities offered but are not forced. There is no scheduled nap time.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Morning snack provided. Snack is posted on daily schedule.

We are governed by a church-appointed Younger Preschool Ministry Committee. The Director administers the program as part of the church's ministry to children, parents and the community, directed by the Children's Minister. We are a nonprofit organization and a church-assisted program. We receive licensing from the Texas Department of Human Services and follow the State of Texas guidelines regarding the Minimum Standards for Childcare Center.

Our 2022-2023 MDO classes started on August 23rd. We currently have a few openings in our preschool classrooms for 3.5-5 yr olds.

Our loving teachers provide a nurturing, enriching environment where children can interact with their peers while hearing Bible stories, enjoying music class, outside playtime on our playground, creating art projects, attending weekly, age-appropriate, Chapel Services and learn from the WeeLearn and TEKS curriculum. Children are able to participate in different special themed activities and celebrations throughout our school year. We encourage curiosity, questions and discovery of God’s world.

Learning is gained through many experiences. Emphasis on interaction with other children and caring adults is a key to developing social skills, language skills, and academic readiness skills. Children’s large and fine motor skills are enhanced with art, play and music. We believe that PLAY is the best way for children to learn!

Mom or Dad, or the child’s caregiver, can use the time to connect with other adults, run errands, or do any of the many ‘things’ that need to be taken care of.

Our program currently has 7 rooms, nursery thru pre-kindergarten, and admits about 72 children, ages 5 months-5 years old.
