Fletcher

Age: ~1 Year

Sex: Male

Weight: ~39 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Corkscrew

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

What's not to love about this mug! Fletcher is a sweet, easy going boy that loves to soak up any affection coming his way! Although Fletcher is a young lad, he is more on the laid back side. He does enjoy his toys, and playing a short game of fetch, but his favorite pastime is napping! Have you heard the saying "I've got a lot of things to do today...like take a nap", yep that's Fletcher! We think Fletcher is more on the Bulldog side as he has many characteristics of the breed, but we can say for certain he is such a good pup with a calm, loving and affectionate personality. Fletcher has lived with another dog (female) his size in his previous home. He is submissive and has not shown any concerning behavior when encountering other dogs or people. Oh, and we hope you don't mind snoring!

Fletcher would do best with another well mannered dog in the home that can help show him the ropes and a patient family to help Fletcher learn all things dog and what it's like to have a loving family. We believe Fletcher probably didn't get much attention in his young life and would love a home where he is not left alone often. He has done great with house and crate training so far in his foster home but will need continued work, Fletcher can be timid with new things and will need to take things at his own speed. A home with a fenced yard is needed as he is not comfortable walking on a leash, yet. Fletcher would make a great companion to a family who can dedicate time and love to a growing pup who has missed out so much in his first year of life. If you would like to give Fletcher the life he's been dreaming of, just fill out an application and mention his name. If you are already approved, email the adoption coordinator and ask to be on his list.

Maude

Age: ~1 Year

Sex: Female

Weight: ~27 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Corkscrew

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Maude is a sweet little thing ready to give you lots of love and kisses! Obviously she is not all boxer, we believe more of the Boston Terrier breed. We do know that she is 100% adorable, was in need and is starving for attention. This sweet girl is shy and timid at first and will need a patient family willing to help her build confidence at her own speed while giving her the love, attention and care she deserves. She is not ideal for urban settings as overwhelming settings can shut her down, she finds comfort in familiar surroundings.

Maude is working on house training and doing well in the crate although she has not had any accidents; however, her foster mom is very diligent about potty breaks and watching outside to ensure she has done her business before coming back in. Any adopting family should know that this sweet little girl may need a little extra attention while settling into her new home.

Maude has a submissive personality with humans and is playful with dogs. She has lived with another dog her size and seems to be dog friendly, but needs a slow introduction to not overwhelm her. She'd do best in a home with another dog that could show her the ropes and has a well-mannered temperament to help her build confidence and feel secure. Maude loves TOYS and is an active girl. She loves exploring the backyard and chasing invisible squirrels (she can hear them but can't see them!), she would need a home with a fenced in yard to continue her hunt with safety. She is curious about new things and by curious we mean nosey, and by nosey we mean get into things she shouldn't and by getting into things she shouldn't we mean a chewer! So puppy proofing is essential until everyone settles in and learns house rules. Maude is ready to take the next step and find her people. She's a sweet, loving and cuddly girl that just wants your love and attention. She would love someone who would be home with her often and minimal time alone. If you feel you can give Maude the life she deserves, mention her on your application or if you are already approved, email the adoption coordinator and ask to be on her list.

Via

Age: ~3 Years

Sex: Female

Weight: ~43 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Via checking in to let everyone know that my upper respiratory infection is all cleared up, I've gotten spayed, and I am just about cleared for adoption!

It did take me a minute to settle in to my foster home (maybe because I was feeling so yucky), and my foster mom had a hard time reading if I would appreciate a furry friend. We're still trying to figure that out, but in all honesty I totally wouldn't mind soaking up all the love and attention for myself! I love toys, I'm great at fetch, I think snuggles with my foster mom and dad are the absolute best thing ever!! I'm good in the crate or free roam and have perfected my house manners! There are no small children in my foster home, but my foster mom thinks I would be perfectly fine with older kids who understand it might take a minute to warm up. My leash skills are still a work in progress, but if you have a fenced in yard to exercise me, that would be a bonus until I have it all figured out!

If you are approved to adopt and think I might be a good match for your family, please email the adoption coordinator and let her know! If you aren't yet approved, please submit an application on our website.

Tessa

Age: ~4-5 Years

Sex: Female

Weight: ~43 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Treated

Available: Now

Hi! My name is Tessa and my foster mom says if you are looking for a sweet girl, then look no further because I am the sweetest girl she has ever fostered!

Let me tell you a little bit about me…I was pulled from a metro Atlanta animal control facility in mid-July. I was very scared, underweight, heartworm positive and not in the best health. Fast forward two and a half months and I feel like a new gal! I've gained some weight, finished my heartworm treatment and now I'm searching for my furever home.

I am a happy and playful boxer who loves to be around my people! The vets think I am about 4-5 years old. I am crate trained and house trained. My crate is my safe place. I am happy to go to my crate and nap if the door is open for me. I'm also very good with free roam in the house. I'm learning how to walk on a leash as that is something my foster mom thinks I haven't done much of in the past. My foster home has a fenced backyard and I would love for my furever home to have a fenced yard as I like to roam and romp in the yard! I also love other dogs, both big and small! My foster home has dogs that range from 7 pounds to 85 pounds and I play well with them all. I am also not a dog that barks. My foster mom has never heard me bark, not once, since I've been with my foster family. I do OK riding in the car, but my foster mom thinks I've not been on a lot of car rides because I don't get super excited to get in the car when the car door opens like the other dogs do. I would do well in a home with a family with children over the age of 8 because I can get excited and like to jump up but we are working on my manners.

If you think that I might be a good fit for you, please mention me, Tessa on your application. If you are already approved, please let the Adoption Coordinator know you'd like to meet me!

Terrific Trio

Age: ~10-14 Years

Sex: Female/Male

Weight: ~40-71 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Meet Atlanta Boxer Rescue's Terrific Trio, featuring Emma, Hanna and Junior! These three are oozing with sweetness! They don't ask for much. They're pretty lazy, actually, but they do enjoy a leisurely walk and some sweet loving. These 3 are looking for an adopter or a permanent foster so they can live out their lives with comfort and dignity. They are all seniors for sure. Emma and Hanna are reported to be 14 years old, but who knows. Junior is reportedly 11 years old and the son of Emma or Hanna. We don't know their exact ages….just that they are seniors, sweet as they can be, and need to stay together. These 3 are good with children who are mature enough to know how to treat a dog. With frequent potty breaks, they are housetrained. If you think you might be that special someone these babies are waiting for, please fill out an application with us and mention Emma, Hanna and Junior. If you are a match for The Trio, I promise you will be rewarded with lots of love and affection!

Dozer

Age: ~2-3 Years

Sex: Male

Weight: ~45 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Treated

Available: October

Hey everyone! I was found in Alabama as a super skinny stray with cherry eye, an upper respiratory infection and heart worms. Some really great people transported me to Atlanta Boxer Rescue. ABR helped me get treated, healthy, and well fed so I could be ready to meet my new family.

Even though I had a rough start in life, I still love people. I want to meet all the people, kids, and dogs. Not sure I have seen a cat? I've been told that my tail wag could literally lift me off like a helicopter. My foster mom has been working on teaching me some manners and commands, since I had not been inside before. I am very smart and love treats, so she says it isn't too hard to train me. I already have potty training down pat, and know to stop something if mom says "uh-uh no" with her firm voice. I know the up and down commands too, though sometimes I don't do it because I am cozy already. My proudest trick is lifting my paws on command when mom wants to clean them.

I wasn't able to go on walks during heart worm treatment, but I loved to be outside sniffing and seeing people. Since I spent time on my own outside, I am a little cautious if in an unknown area. My mom slowly worked up to longer walks so I could feel safe. Once I really know a stretch, then we can move to the next and go longer because I am not worried anymore. Sometimes, something scary goes by loud or fast and I jump. I am able to slip my collar that way, so I use a harness and feel safer. I like to go to more places with my foster mom now that I trust her more.

I have a really big foster fur brother that I like a lot. He and I play tug of war and chase. Sometimes I annoy him with how excited I get and how I want to play rough, but he is really patient and corrects me nicely. I act like a big puppy, so I could knock down or step on little children with my zoomies. Do you have a dog I can play with or will it be just humans and me? I think I could have fun either way, but I really hope any dogs you have like to play. If I am the only dog, then I am going to want to run and play with you a lot! Make no mistake though, I am a champion cuddle bug too.

Interested in me? If so, fill out an application and mention Dozer. If you are already approved, just email the adoption coordinator and ask to be added to my list.

Clyde

Age: ~8 Years

Sex: Male

Weight: ~55 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Natural

HW Test: Positive

Available: September

Clyde is a lovable 8 year old gentleman. He loves to be loved on. He is about as calm as they come. Nothing seems to bother him, he is just infinitely happy!

He is quite the sunbather and at times needs to be coaxed back out of the sun and into the house with a treat. He is quite a lounge lizard and not a single dog bed or piece of furniture has floated away since he has arrived at his foster home. He is more than willing to hold these items in place by relaxing on them.

His crooked nose never misleads him when it comes to mealtime. His enthusiasm shines through when he knows food is around. He's even been known to shed his couch hippo exterior and become a counter surfer if the right opportunity presents itself. He just can't resist the smell of BBQ or a chicken breast. If you think you are lazy, Clyde would like to meet you and show you what lazy REALLY looks like and share a meal or two with you!

If you are approved to adopt and would like a chance to meet Clyde please email the adoption coordinator and let her know. If Clyde sounds like your kind of guy, and you live in the metro Atlanta area, please submit an application on our websit

Cooper

Age: ~8 Years

Sex: Male

Weight: ~55 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Cooper was pulled from the shelter by ABR 7 years ago, and adopted out to a wonderful home. Unfortunately Cooper's owner passed away recently. Before he passed he contacted ABR and asked us to find him another good home. When Cooper's original foster found out they jumped at the opportunity to return to fostering and bring Cooper back into their home.

Cooper is lovingly referred to as a grumpy old man. With everything that he's been through, who can blame him. He was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, and is already being treated for an autoimmune disease called ITP. Luckily we have gotten that under control and just needs bloodwork every 6 months to make sure he's still doing well. He has been on meds for his ITP and we have almost completely come off of them. He will be on meds for his heart for the rest of his life though. He has been taking them 3 times a day so someone who works from home or comes home for lunch is required. Plus, he needs a potty break during the day.

Cooper does very well with his 2 fur siblings that are much younger and crazier, but we think he would enjoy having quieter, older dogs. He also does great with the toddler in the house, but we can tell he can be a bit much sometimes. He does do very well at going to another room if he needs a break though.

He is perfectly content sleeping on the sofa at night or laying on his own bed in your room. He does like to alert you when the Amazon guy is coming, and his leash manners could use a little refining, but Coop doesn't require a lot of exercise. He would be perfectly content with a fenced in backyard. He loves his people so much. He's always wanting your attention and will nudge your hand if he wants some love. When we had him the first time he would jump on the sofa and collapse in your lap. If you are looking for a dog to lay on the sofa and cuddle with you, he's your guy. Whoever adopts him will be lucky to have him.

If you are already approved to adopt with ABR, and Cooper sounds like a good match, please email the adoption coordinator. If you live in the metro Atlanta area and would like to meet Cooper, please fill out an application on our website!

Teddy

Age: ~11 Months

Sex: Male

Weight: ~40 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Natural

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Let me formally reintroduce myself! My name is Teddy. You may remember me as the poor puppy that was sprung from the shelter at the beginning of summer and sent right to the emergency vet with pneumonia. My foster family has taken great care in getting me healthy. I am going in to get my neuter and I will finally be ready to find my furever home!

My foster mom says that I am your typical puppy. I LOVE playing! I have an older foster sister that I get along with great, but sometimes I play a little too much and I can annoy her...but that's ok, because I'm still a puppy. I like to chase outdoor critters, so we think that no kitty friends would be the best fit for me. I'm still learning my puppy manners, I can be a little nippy and jumpy, but I'm easily corrected. My ideal home would include a fenced in yard to let me burn off my puppy energy and someone who is familiar with puppy training and patient enough to work with me to be the best boy I can be!

If you are already approved, and think I might be your perfect match, please email the adoption coordinator and let her know you are interested in meeting me. If you think I might be your dream guy, and you live in the metro Atlanta area, please fill out an application on our website

Daisy

Age: ~5 Years

Sex: Female

Weight: ~59 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: December

Daisy is a beautiful white boxer with a personality to match. She loves people and has done very well with the other dogs in her foster home after a slow intro. She has a playful nature at times but prefers to lounge on the sofa or chairs. Most of the time you'll find her snoring away on her bed or sofa. She loves to get really close to her foster family and be hugged and rubbed. She is very well behaved, potty trained, can sit on command, and leash trained. She is crate trained, listens well and is extremely obedient. Give her a treat and she takes it from you so gently. She has not shown any aggression at all, however, she will finish her meal and attempt to eat the other dogs' meals if possible. She loves to lounge in the sun and has to be watched carefully so that she will not get too much sun exposure.

She has so much love to give and would love to be part of your family. She would do best in a home with older children. She is perfect for anyone who would like a sweet companion to snuggle and love.

Zeus

Age: ~7-8 Years

Sex: Male

Weight: ~59 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Hi! I'm Zeus! My foster mom says I'm a perfect companion. I love cuddles, but I'm also perfectly content playing with my toys and napping until my humans get home from work. I walk nicely on leash. I was taught to walk on my human's right side, and I do that all the time. I may be a little bit older, but you know what that means? It means I'm fully housebroken and trained, I don't need a crate but I'll use it if you want, I take treats gently, I don't whine unless i need to potty, and I don't require a bunch of exercise when you get home from work! We can just lounge around together! I'm not a fan of other dogs, but that's ok. I'm perfectly content loving my humans and showing how grateful I am for them. My foster mom says I would be perfect for someone that works outside the home but wants a dog at home. If I sound like I could be the dog you are looking for, mention ZEUS to the adoption coordinator! Not yet approved, apply online.

Bella

Age: ~7 Years

Sex: Female

Weight: ~43 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Natural

HW Test: Treated

Available: Now

Meet Bella! This sweet girl ended up at the shelter after being found as a stray. She was emaciated, weighing only 26 lbs when found. Thanks to ABR, her days of searching for her next meal are behind her. Bella also tested positive for heartworms and has completed treatment.

Bella has a sweet, playful disposition and loves everyone she meets. She would do good with another well-mannered pup, but would be just as content to be your one and only as she loves being near her people. Having someone home more often than not would be ideal for this little love bug. She's had no accidents in the house, does well in the crate and has great house manners.

If you think Bella might be the girl for you, mention her on your adoption application. If you're already approved, ask the adoption coordinator to add you to her list.

Rosie

Age: ~6 Years

Sex: Female

Weight: ~74 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Natural

HW Test: Negative

Available: Now

Hello, Rosie here....just wanted to stop in and introduce myself...again. I was adopted last year but now back with ABR. I have what some call a prey drive for small dogs/cats so it made walking difficult for my foster family. I lived with an older family and loved having them around alot. Because of my return, the rescue folks say I need a home with a fenced yard so there is no worry of encountering little dogs or cats. I'm a pretty low maintenance gal. I like to eat, sleep and repeat. Sometimes I get spunky and like to play with my toys. I can easily entertain myself and like to lay on my comfy bed....I can't wait to do that in my forever home. My foster mom had to leave to go help people who were affected by Hurricane Ida so now I'm in boarding....I don't know when she will return so I am hoping to find a foster or furever home. I am house trained and do well with free roam in the house, no destructive behavior. I would do best in a home without small children (teens would be great). I am also looking for a home as the only pet. I like to have my humans all to myself and give you lots of cuddles and kisses in return. If you are looking to add a gal like me to your life or would like to foster me while I wait for a forever family, just mention Rosie on your application.

Mason

Age: ~5 Years

Sex: Male

Weight: ~48 lbs

Ears/Tail: Natural / Docked

HW Test: Negative

Available: January

Mason was found as a stray in Atlanta and waiting for help at a local shelter. He came to ABR very thin and with a bad upper respiratory infection. He's gaining weight and has since recovered from his infection, but unfortunately we found out he has Cardiomyopathy. He is taking daily medication to help with his diagnosis which he will continue to take the rest of his life. Because of this condition, Mason may have a limited life span...but we never know what his future holds. He would do best in a less active home as he shouldn't run or get too much exercise though he can be a normal pup and enjoy moderate walks and playing with his toys. He has a few more follow up vet visits and we will be getting a few lumps checked out to ensure he's healthy for adoption...that's the bad news.

The good news is that he is super adorable and he has a great personality. He will "talk", play with stuffed toys or a ball and he loves his crate. Even though he has free roam in his foster home, he prefers his crate and is often relaxing or sleeping in it. Mason is house trained and walks gently on a leash. He only pulls if he is excited about a car ride. He is on the smaller side and probably could gain a few more pounds. He has the cutest underbite which shows one tooth sticking out at times, you can't help to fall in love with him. Mason seems to take more to women than men, though he is fine with his foster dad, it took a little while for him to come around. It may take slow introductions to new men before he is comfortable. He and his foster fur brother, have become great friends, they enjoy each others company. He's a great little companion that makes his foster parents laugh and Mason easy to love. He would do well in the home of an older woman or couple, retiree, quieter home. He's really an easy dog to care for and doesn't require much except love. Mason will bring lots of joy to a special family for whatever length of time he has left on this earth. We are optimistic that with the appropriate home, vet care and medicine, he will have many happy years. If Mason sounds like a match for you, just mention his name on your application. Or is you are already approved, email the adoption coordinator and ask to be on his list.
