Can Am UTV FULL SERVICE KIT OIL CHANGE KIT - Exceeds OE quality oil!
We cannot stress how important it is to change your oil and air filter on these offroad UTV units.
These engines only hold a little over 2 quarts and they run extremely
hot.
They are constantly driven off road in the dirt and dust.
We've been involved in Powersports for 30 years and we have used, seen and tested lots of oil. We have access to all oils, there's a reason we choose Maxima oil.
MAXIMA SXS SYNTHETIC ENGINE is a 100% FULL synthetic ester fortified 4-stroke engine oil. Specifically for side by side (SxS) engines. Synthetic, oxidatively-stable formulation combines surface active esters with a shear stable polymer system to provide excellent film thickness and viscosity stability across all operating temperatures. Advanced proprietary additive system reduces temperatures and increases power output while keeping your engine running clean, trouble free and extending the life of the machine. Exceeds the requirements of API SL / JASO MA2. Anyone in the motocross industry knows the quality of MAXIMA oils!!! Available in 0W-40 / 5W-50 / 10W-50 (typically these engines call for 5W-50)

Jan 2, 2021 what's a good brand of oil to use & what weight for the maverick sport 1000r eng. I live in maine but don't use in the winter. Joined Oct 16, 2019 · 375 Posts
Mine is still relatively new (700 miles), I go straight to my CanAm dealer. Might switch to Amsoil in the future. Joined Jul 14, 2017 · 661 Posts
Needs to be swapped often, but it’s an excellent oil for high RPM four stroke motors that run high temps. It’s what I’ve got in it now. Amsoil or XPS are good oils too - they’re not synthetic, but they DID get my motor to 35,000+ miles before busting internal plastic parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mobile 1 fully synthetic 5-40 is excellent oil ......Walmart .....and I hate Walmart and haven’t been in one in a decade , has the lowest price on the planet .....and they will bring it to your car or house.
Amsoil and Royal Purple are excellent also ......the Mobile 1 is half the price and more readily available. I use Mobile 1 in every vehicle I
have.
My $100k Mercedes has a Mobile 1 sticker from the factory in the engine compartment.

A 4T grade motorcycle oil is what is recommended in the manual, not oil for cars or diesels. It says if the preferred oil is not available then use SJ, SL, SM or SN. The Motul that Desert Dog recommended is the only one listed that is 4T.

The Motul that Desert Dog recommended is the only one listed that is 4T. 4T is not a regulated specification as the Motul 4T's is API SL
that does meet BRP requirement for this application. I'm not sure what the 4T specification might mean but even Mobile 1 makes a T4 oil and it also meets the API SN requirements. I believe any quality full synthetic oil that meets one of BRP API specifications in the specified weight would be fine as I have had not had any issues using full synthetic oil that meets the manufacture specified API as it has for me in my ATV's, SxS's and snowmobiles, including turbo snowmobiles over the
years. But we should all use the product that we individually feel comfortable with as long as it meets the vehicle manufactures oil specifications and changes the oil and filter within the manufactures maintenance schedule.

Call me lazy, but I just buy the oil changing kit by CanAm. I used to use Rotella on my Commander with no problems.

Agreed on less spendy alternatives, however OEM BRP is currently in mine with that and Mobil 1 engine oil on former MavT. Rather than aftermarket oil filters, I choose OEM as well. I do like Royal Purple gear oils but that's a different topic.

This is the best meaning I could find for 4T motorcycle oil, but any 4T oils would still need to meet the engine manufactures API specifications;
"4T specifications
Modern passenger car engine oils contain more and more friction modifiers. While this is the good thing for those segments (reduces wear and fuel consumption) it's bad for the
motorcycles. At least for those motorcycles which use engine oil to lubricate their transmission and wet clutch.....Most four-stroke motorcycles with wet clutches need a JASO MA oil."

Saying 'ive used (such and such) for x miles and everything is fine means nothing. Most dont put significant miles on there machines to matter 'or really know' anyway. Wear can be determined over the life 'or shortness' of it over the 'life' of the
motor. Some say 5000-10,000 miles is high millage? Not me...
